Van Gogh’s Flowers is open now through October 26th, 2025. The exhibit is accessible whenever NYBG is open–Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, as well as select Monday holidays.

Each Friday and Saturday in June, the Garden will also remain open from 7:30pm to 10:00 pm so that visitors can explore the exhibition after dark and enjoy live performances and cocktails. Conditions permitting, the nighttime experience culminates in a dazzling drone show. More dates may be added.

What are some of the must-see highlights at Van Gogh’s Flowers?

The towering field of sunflowers–real and sculpted–is the exhibit’s crown jewel! Also make sure to step into the framed recreation of "The Starry Night" for a photo and visit the indoor installations of Van Gogh's "Irises" in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.

What kids activities will we find at the exhibition?

Kids are likely to love all of the vibrant art and flower installations, but there are a couple of activities specifically for young visitors! You’ll find drop-in plein-air watercolor painting sessions on weekends at various locations across the grounds.

You can also head to Everett Children’s Adventure Garden for Van Grow!, which features opportunities to plant marigolds, try your hand at flower printing, and head down the Van Gogh Story Walk. The Children’s Garden also features climbing structures, a rock scramble, a pond with fish and turtles, and two indoor play centers with books, magnetic tiles, a microscope, and more.

You'll find endless photo ops, like right beside these towering irises.

Who are the artists behind the Van Gogh’s Flowers exhibit?

While the exhibit is entirely inspired by Van Gogh’s original artwork, the sculptures and displays have all been created by a handful of endlessly-talented contemporary artists–Catherine Borowski and Lee Baker of Graphic Rewilding, Amie J. Jacobsen, and Cyril Lancelin.

When the sun goes down, don't miss the Starry Nights drone show.

What is the Starry Nights drone show?

On select dates, the New York Botanical Garden will stay open late for Starry Nights. Visitors of all ages are welcome to explore the exhibit after dark, enjoy live music, sip cocktails and mocktails, purchase light bites, and–conditions permitting–end the evening with a drone show that recreates Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” across the sky.

What should we wear to the New York Botanical Garden?

Much of the Van Gogh’s Flowers exhibit is outside, so dress for the weather! And since you’ll be doing a bit of walking, comfortable shoes are a must. Consider hats, sunscreen, and bug spray, especially as the weather gets warmer.

What should we bring to the exhibit?

There’s no coat check or locker area, so be sure to pack light. Food, snacks, water and other non-alcoholic beverages are permitted–just be mindful that picnicking is only permitted in the Clay Family Picnicking Pavilions.

The bright colors and beautiful displays capture the attention of all ages.

Is the New York Botanical Garden stroller-friendly?

Strollers are encouraged in the outdoor areas of the Garden but are not permitted in the Conservatory, on the Conservatory Lawn, or on the Mertz Building lawns. Stroller parking is available in these areas. Most of the park is stroller-friendly and the couple of indoor areas that aren’t offer convenient stroller parking. Do note that bikes and scooters are not permitted in the gardens.

Are there dining options within the New York Botanical Garden?

Yes–there are a couple of great dining options at NYBG! Visit the family-friendly Pine Tree Café for pizza, sandwiches, salads, and snacks, or head to the Hudson Garden Grill for a sit-down farm-to-table meal (kids menu included). You’re also welcome to enjoy your own food at the lovely Clay Family Picnic Pavilions, where you’ll find a collection of covered picnic tables.

What parking options are available at the New York Botanical Garden for the exhibition?

NYBG has onsite parking as well as its own parking garage ($22 for visitors and free with a valid Members pass), and additional paid parking is available across the street at Fordham University. Street parking is generally limited (although we did luck out with a spot on our visit), but there are a number of other independent garages in the area if needed.

Will we find Van Gogh-themed souvenirs at the NYBG gift shop?

The gift shop offers Van Gogh-themed souvenirs, including t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, and more.

How do we purchase tickets for the Van Gogh’s Flowers exhibit at NYBG?

Admission to Van Gogh’s Flowers is included in the purchase of an All-Garden Pass. Pricing varies across weekends and weekdays, and ranges from $15 to $39. Kids under two and patrons/members are always free. You’re not required to purchase tickets in advance, but I highly recommend ordering NYBG tickets online for a seamless visit!

Note that Starry Nights requires special tickets starting at $43.
