Located in the heart of Soho, the Museum of Ice Cream is an immersive space offering interactive fun for kids of all ages, including a giant twisty slide, themed exhibits, a sprinkle pit, and, of course, all-you-can-eat ice cream! A hands-on, Instagram-ready experience, the Museum of Ice Cream is one of our favorite immersive museums in NYC for kids.

Visiting the Museum of Ice Cream: The Basics

Spanning three floors, the Museum of Ice Cream offers kids a chance to jump, slide, and taste their way through 12 interactive spaces. You can spend as long as you like in each room, but you must keep moving forward through the spaces. My 9-year-old son particularly loved the super-fast, three-story slide. Guests must be 3 years or older and 44 inches or taller to ride, and children must be able to ride alone. There's also an elevator next to the slide entrance for anyone (like me) who prefers to skip it!

Museum of Ice Cream: Dive into the ball pit at the Museum of Ice Cream
From a ball pit to a sprinkle pool, there's plenty of fun to dive into at the Museum of Ice Cream.

Other favorites included a mini bouncy room, a swing set, an ice cream-themed arcade, and the last installation: a giant sprinkle pool with a slide and a separate sprinkle "hot tub" for adults only. The pool is much shallower than a typical ball pit, making it easier for little ones to wade through.

Although there is a room with a historical timeline of ice cream and a few artifacts, the term "museum" does not really apply here. The space is much more of a hands-on experience with fun photo backdrops, including a room with hanging bananas and a table spread with faux desserts. Though these installations were eye candy for adults, my son was less impressed, but he still had fun running around in these rooms.

Museum of Ice Cream
There's no shortage of tasty treats to enjoy at the Museum of Ice Cream.

The main draw for many people is the unlimited frozen goodies available throughout the experience. Kiosks located along the way offer all-you-can-eat cold treats, including mini popsicles, sorbet, and scoops of various flavors of ice cream; vegan and dairy-free options are also available.

The museum also houses a cafe and a bar serving kid-friendly milkshakes, signature sundaes, and themed cocktails for adults. Purchases at the cafe and bar are not included in the general admission ticket, but if you have a VIP pass, you'll receive one token good for any item at either location. There's a small, you guessed it, ice-cream-themed gift shop on your way out.
