Looking for the best things to do in DC on New Year's Eve weekend to ring in 2026? From fireworks to drone shows to balloon drops, here are our top activities to add to your list this holiday weekend.

With the holidays falling mid-week this year, there is an extended amount of family time to fill. Our list below includes things to do on New Year's Eve and all through the following weekend with kids.

If you want to say goodbye to 2025 with a bang, you won't want to miss Baltimore's New Year Eve's Drone and Firework Show. For a more family-friendly (read: early) celebration, try Noon Yards Eve. On New Year's Day, start 2026 off right with a First Day Hike in Seneca Creek State Park

Feel like hanging on to Christmas cheer just a little longer? Head to the free Season's Greenings at the US Botanic Garden, or see Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical at the National Theatre. Happy New Year!

Don’t miss our complete lists of things to do on New Year's Eve with kids and what to do with kids over the holiday break.
