Make: Mother's Day Fingerprint Heart Necklace

The most important element in a Mother's Day gift is a touch of love. So this fingerprint pedant is the perfect way to win someone's heart. It's very easy to craft and makes the perfect keepsake for any mother, grandmother, aunt or friend. Just about any kind of hard-drying clay or dough will work; we like using Model Magic because it provides a nice smooth surface on which to decorate, but you can also look at our recipe for salt dough.

OUR LATEST VIDEOS

Materials:
Clay or dough
String or ribbon
Small glass or jar to use as a circle cutter
Paint to decorate (optional)

1. Take a glob of clay and flatten it; use a glass to cut out a circle.
2. Make a fingerprint heart by pressing two of your child's fingers into the dough; thumbs work well.
3. Poke a small hole at the top (so you can string it later), then let the clay dry.

Once it's dry, hang it from a ribbon or string. Add paint or a few macaroni beads for an extra homemade touch.
