Family-Friendly Events in the East End, Hamptons and North Fork May 30-June 1

Summer has officially started on Long Island, so many families will be flocking out to the East End every weekend for some warm weather fun. Besides visiting one of the area's many beautiful beaches, there are also plenty of family-friendly events to enjoy. Below, we rounded-up ten must-attend events during the weekend of May 31 - June 1.

Saturday, May 31

Train a Lion, Kiss a Seal at the Long Island Aquarium, Riverhead
Bring the kids to the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead on Saturday for a fun-filled day of behind-the-scenes action. During the event, which runs from 10:15am to 2:15pm, kids will be able to get up close and personal with some of the creatures that call the aquarium home. Cost: $155 per person.

Science Saturday at the Long Island Science Center, Riverhead
Kids can learn and play at the Long Island Science Center with over 30 hands-on exhibits. On Saturday, the museum will have a tribute to Sci-fi and Star Wars from 11am to 4pm. Cost: $5 per person, or free if you and your family arrive in costume.

For The Birds Story Time and Craft, Amagansett
Bring the kids to the Amagansett Free Library to hear a story and and then make a bird to take home. The event runs from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Cost: Free

Community Yard Sale and Music With Brady Rymer, Riverhead
The Hallockville Musuem in Riverhead is hosting a community yard sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Also on Saturday, children's favorite singer, Brady Rymer will be on hand in the barn for a benefit for the North Fork Education Initiative. Cost: The yard sale is free to attend and the Brady Rymer concert is free for children, $15 for adults

Fleet's Neck Community Yard Sale, Cutchogue
Take the kids to search for treasure at the Fleet's Neck Community Yard sale, which will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the park at the end of Pequash Avenue in Cutchogue. Cost: Free

Craft Fair, Moriches
The Colonial Youth and Family Services is hold a craft fair from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 201 Montauk Highway. The event will feature numerous vendors. Cost: Free

Tri-Hamlet Community Day, Shirley
Everyone is invited to the third annual Tri-Hamlet Community Day celebration where kids can tour the various historic sites, as well as visit a wildlife refuge. Bus transportation is provided to each site, starting at 10:00 a.m. at William Floyd Elementary School. Cost: Free

Sunday, June 1

Open House at Sweet Woodland Farm, Hampton Bays
Bring the kids to see a real working farm. Kids can meet farm animals and make crafts from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the farm, which is located at 45 Old Squires Road. Cost: Free

Hallockville Wood Carving Club, Riverhead
Bring the kids to learn how to carve wood at the Hallockville Museum in Riverhead. Kids can give woodcarving a try or simply watch and learn. Cost: $3 donation

Mud Run, Calverton
Take the kids to watch the Long Island Adventure Race, where runners race through obstacles and mud pits. Kids, ages 8 and up are even invited to participate. The race starts at 9:00 a.m. at Enterprise Park. Cost: Free to watch, $79 for adults to run; $49 for kids to participate.
