WeeWork Recipes: 60 Second Smoothies
I don't know about you, but, in our household, mornings are the hardest time of day. If the morning scramble weren't enough, my kids need a hearty breakfast to make it through the school day. Cereal doesn't cut it, and I'm not good enough to whip up pancakes on a weekday.
My go-to breakfast is the smoothie. So simple, so good. There are lots of fancy smoothie recipes online, but this basic smoothie can be whipped up in seconds and makes for a healthy and filling breakfast. Share your favorite variation in the comments.

One of the great things about smoothies is you can keep all the ingredients at the ready in the freezer, so you always have what you need on hand. When you have bananas that are starting to go over-ripe, just slice them up and freeze so you have them ready and keep a bag of frozen berries at the ready. Of course, you can use any kind of fresh or frozen fruit that you like or whatever you have ripening in your fruit bowl. You really can't go wrong.
1. Put in a banana and a handful of berries. You can use fresh or frozen fruit. Frozen fruit gives you a thicker smoothie.
2. Add a few scoops of yogurt and a splash of milk. I use plain, nonfat yogurt, but you can use whatever kind you like. Almond or soy milk or juice are all also good.
3. Blend until all the fruit is smooth. I use an immersion blender for super easy cleanup.
As long as the fruit is sweet, we don't add any sweetener to ours. If your kids need a sweeter taste, you can put a little maple syrup in or use vanilla yogurt or juice instead of milk.
