Weekly CT Wrap Up: A Visit to Keeler Tavern, 5 Water Theme Parks, Day Trip Series

8/5/11 - By Mary Beth Lawlor

Last night I drove from the Litchfield Hills, leaving my view of (albeit small) mountains, to the quiet serene beaches of the Long Island Sound in little over an hour. It reminded me of the years I lived in Santa Monica, California where within one day, if you were crazy enough, you could surf in the morning and then ski in the afternoon. We don't have the California weather but we certainly have a diverse state full of fun things to do!

This week on Mommy Poppins Connecticut we began a weekly day trip series and the first two reviews were for Stamford Museum and Nature Center and the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat Ride. For the history buffs, we also reviewed the Keeler Tavern Museum in Ridgefield.

Before summer is over I've got to take the kids out to one or two more water parks. Lucky for me, we wrote about 5 Water Theme Parks in and around CT and gave some great insider tips on what to expect.

It's World Breast Feeding Week and The Big Latch On world record attempt is happening this Saturday at various locations in CT.

This weekend we plan to relax at the Litchfield Jazz Festival and spend time with visiting friends. Maybe get some blueberry picking in too. You can't beat fresh picked-berries. Here's our list of picking farms near you.

As a kid, she envisioned her four gorgeous children running through the idyllic countryside while she created pottery in her studio. Well, fast forward 30 years and there is no pottery studio and only two kids but she has the idyllic countryside part down. After studying business and art, and then working in corporate marketing, graphic design as well as event planning and development, Mary Beth is now happily blogging.
