Things to Do with Kids in CT This Weekend: March 10-11: Seal Watching, Walter Wick, Maple Sugaring, Parades
This Sunday we Spring forward and lose an hour. That's okay with me as long as we are "springing forward". The lacrosse practices have replaced the basketball practices. l still can't believe that we had such a mild winter here in CT. We've begun signing up for summer camps and have created a Summer Camps Guide for Hartford, Litchfield and Fairfield Counties. It will continue to be updated so check back often. We also listed 110 Things to Do with Kids in CT Before They Grow Up. How many things have you done on the list?
Being in the thick of Maple Sugaring season we asked a dad in Washington, CT, Elliott Davis to tell us how he makes syrup at home. It's been a wonderful family activity. Anyone with the time to boil and a little bit of hard work can make their own home-made syrup.

Next weekend is St. Patrick's Day and the festivities are already getting started with a St. Patrick's Day Parades on Saturday. O'Neill's Pub and Restaurant will have an Irish Brunch Buffet and Irish Dancers as well as bagpipers during dinner. We've posted all about St. Patrick's Day events in Fairfield County here.
Don't miss the sugaring season without touring a sugar house. Lamothe's is doing maple syrup tours this weekend. You can visit with reptiles at the Mystic Aquarium, go seal watching or build your own bat box in Salisbury. Sunday is Explorers Day at Stamford Museum and Nature Center.
The Bruce Museum has a cool exhibit for the kids. Walter Wick's photos (from the "I Spy" books) have been enlarged so that you can enjoy all of the fun details close up. It's Family Drop In Weekend at the Aldrich and 101 Dalmations is playing at the Ridgefield Playhouse.
For more fun events check out our calendar. There are all sorts of fun events listed every day. It's FREE, so if you have an event listing go ahead and submit it. Are you our facebook friend? The weather forecast is predicting a sunny weekend. Get out there and have some fun with the kids!

Mary Beth Lawlor
After fulfilling a childhood dream of one day living in a high-rise building in a big city (eight years in LA and 10 in Manhattan), Mary Beth is now partially fulfilling another childhood dream. As a kid, she envisioned her four gorgeous children running through the idyllic countryside while she created pottery in her studio. Well, fast forward 30 years and there is no pottery studio and only two kids but she has the idyllic countryside part down. After studying business and art, and then working in corporate marketing, graphic design as well as event planning and development, Mary Beth is now happily blogging.
