Fun Things To Do Labor Day Weekend with Kids in CT: Fairs, Baseball, Corn Mazes and Races

Autumn may not officially begin for a few more weeks, but for many Labor Day weekend is the last hurrah of summer.  One final weekend to enjoy the beach, water parks and pools before our thoughts turn to apple picking, fall foliage and pumpkin patches.  If you're looking for one more chance to get out on the water, we've put together some suggestions for Places to Go Boating off Long Island Sound. Don't have a boat of your own -  don't worry.  On the list you'll find places you can rent boats or kayaks, go on a cruise or even take sailing lessons.

Take the kids to a ball game this holiday weekend.  The New Britain Rock Cats play four games this weekend.  On Monday, the Rock Cats are hosting a Family Fun Day with an all you can eat buffet and a chance for the kids to run the bases. 

A favorite Litchfield County summer fair is here as it is every Labor Day weekend - The Goshen Fair.  Time to enjoy carnival rides, witness enormous pumpkins and fancy chickens while taking in a log splitting contest. And don't forget to save room for all of that devilish fried carnival food. Speaking of fairs, who'd want to miss the 152nd annual Woodstock Fair. This agricultural fair will be fun for all animal enthusiasts as well as those looking for good old fashioned country fair fun.

Westport's Blues, Views and BBQ Festival serves up delicious BBQ, live music, children's events and competitions on Saturday and Sunday. In the Northwest Corner you can catch a vintage race car parade on August 30th. There will be more fun car events at Lime Rock Park all weekend.

The Corn Maze at Lyman Orchards opens Saturday. You can get lost along 2 miles of winding pathways in this huge baseball themed maze now through November 4th (check schedule for days/hours of operation). Mommy Poppins CT readers can save $1 per ticket with the discount code: POPPINS.

On Sunday, head to Bayley Beach for the RCA's Labor Day Swim Races and Family Fun Day.  There will be swim races, tug-of-war, pie eating contest beach games. 

The Town of Newtown presents its Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday.  While in town don't forget to also visit the Labor Day Fair going on throughout the day at Newtown Middle School. 

Pack the family in the car and head to Quassy Amusement Park on Monday for their Labor Day Carload Special.  Pay only $40 for unlimited rides for everyone in your vehicle.
