This Best of November 2023 will provide families a bounty of fun things to do in Connecticut! The temps are finally dropping, and we love spending time outside in the fall. Celebrate Native American culture this month at Nowashe Village in South Windsor and at the Weston History and Cultural Center. Commemorate Veteran's Day in New Britain. Bring your Swifty to Swifties Craft Night, then pile everyone in the car for the popular Stamford Parade. After Thanksgiving, you can begin to shift your focus to the most wonderful time of the year with the Mystic Tree Lighting and Reindeer Festival.

Pull up a log or layout a fur and join Abenaki elder and national storyteller Willow Greene who will bring with her a small, beaded pouch and asks volunteer audience members to reach in and pick out a stone. Since each stone relates to a different story, every one of Willow’s storytelling events is unique. Her stories talk about a variety of subjects, and may include how Gluskabe came into the world, why the sun shines the way it does and why skunk smells so bad.  Gather around Nowashe’s central fire pit for this family friendly event. Two classic tales make up this wonderful animal-inspired show by John McDonough of Pumpernickel Puppets from Worcester MA. In his modern adaptation of the famous Norwegian folk tale The Three Billy Goats Gruff, three quick-witted goats outsmart the green, snaggletooth troll who lives under a bridge. In The Lion and the Mouse, two unlikely friends – one very big and one very small – learn to help each other solve their problems.
