1. East Side Restaurant - New Britain

Every day is Oktobefest in this German-themed spot. The East Side Restaurant brings a taste of Bavaria to Greater Hartford. Complete with lederhosen. Giant pretzels are perfect for sharing as a starter. There are several schnitzels for the grown ups and German-style chicken nuggets on the kids menu. Ok, they're just regular chicken nuggets. The mural of medieval Hiedelberg adds to the European feel.

2. The Mill on the River - South Windsor

This fine eatery might be a little more upscale than a casual night out, but the ambience at the Mill on the River is well worth it. This converted mill has multiple tables overlooking a waterfall, and a fountaindide patio for al fresco dining. The Mill on the River also has a sumptuous Sunday brunch.

3. Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill - Bridgeport

This joint has everything Connecticut kids look for in a restaurant. Burgers, pizza, and mac-and-cheese on the menu. Twelve lanes of bowling for entertainment. And the decor makes kids feel like they are swimming in a fishbowl. On-site private rooms are phenomenal for birthday parties.

4. Little Barn - Westport & Shelton

These rustic digs will make the whole family feel like they’re down on the farm for an extended family reunion. The Little Barn has locations in both Westport and Shelton. There is a full kids’ menu, outdoor seating, and live music if the family is looking to rock out.

5. MacN' Out - Milford

If there is a themed menu that hits the bullseye for kids' food, Mac N' Out is it. This Milford restaurant has 70 mac-and-cheese-themed dishes that range from appetizers to full entrees. This actually might be the cheesiest.

6. Famous 50's Diner - Bridgeport

Take the family back in time to the age of Elvis. Bridgeport's Famous 50's Diner also has some mouth-watering eats. Cozy up to the counter for burgers and club sandwiches. Or share a Brownie Delight in a booth. The wild decor will keep the kids' eyes busy while they chow down.

7. Rosy Tomorrow’s - Danbury

The throwback decor adds to the fun atmosphere of this train car-turned restaurant. Rosy Tommorow's features seasonal themes and events, live music, and delicious food.

8. Stowe’s Seafood - West Haven

The nautical theme at this waterfront roadside eatery runs the gamut from pirates to lobster traps to grass roof umbrellas. Best of sll the beach is across the street. Stowe's Seafood has been a part of West Haven for generations who have flocked for lobster rolls and fried delicacies. Note: Stowe's Seafood only accepts cash.

9. Louis' Lunch - New Haven

This much-beloved restaurant has a couple of different themes happening. First and formeost, Louis' Lunch is the birthplace of the hamburger sandwich (since shortened to just "hamburger"). That's a pretty solid theme right there. The vintage interior shows kids what most restaurants looked like a century ago.
