Salmon Brook Park - East Granby
Salmon Brook Park is wide open, with two playgrounds and plenty of parking. The larger playground has tables with umbrellas, and there are two small picnic pavilions for rent as well. Kids will spend the party blowing out candles, eating cake, and then frolicking on the fun playground equipment.
Foster Family Farm - South Windsor
Have a farm-themed birthday out in the corn field. There are 3 party "rooms" available for parties (spaces are cut into the corn fields). Kids will be part of an open-air birthday party under a tent. There are weekend time slots available for parties, and you will be able to take advantage of mini corn mazes, playscapes and the super-cool pedal cart race track.
Jonathon's Dream - Bloomfield
This all-abilities playground is a great place to hold a birthday party for kids 5 to 12. Party goers have two covered picnic tables for two hours. This playground has so many extra neat features like an airplace, ramps, basketball hoops, climbers, and rolling slides.
Dinosaur State Park - Rocky Hill
For a very affordable fee, you can reserve the outdoor shelter at one of Connecticut's coolest state parks. The space can hold up to 40 people and has four tables for your partygoers to celebrate at. The hiking trail is of course free for attendees to explore, but museum admission is extra.

Darien Nature Center - Darien
Choose from two themes: Critter Encounter and Treasure Hunt. An educator will lead the party with an eye-spy walk, animal presentation, or treasure hunt. Birthday parties can be held June through September.
Bruce Park - Greenwich
Open from Sunrise to Sunset, Bruce Park has a pond, walking paths, and a playground for the kids. There is a gazebo and an on-site bathroom. The site can be reserved for between 25 and 125 people between May and October.

Brushy Hill Farm - Southbury
Do you have a horse lover in the house? Imagine holding his/her birthday party surrounded by horses! Brushy Hill is open to your ideas, but previous parties have seen ponies dressed up as princesses, football players, unicorns, and dragons! Pony rides will be included in the party, as well as the use of the picnic area for cake and presents.
Butternut Hollow Park - Middletown
A newer playgrounds with really nice equipment. There is lots of shade and a great little picnic pavilion too. There is no reservation for this space (first come, first serve), so if you set up a party, keep in mind you will be sharing the playground with the public.
Basset Playground and Larry's Plaground - Hamden
A sweet playground for tots and younger elementary school kids, this area can be reserved for a delightful celebration with family and friends. There is on-site parking and bathroom facilities.
Chatfield Hollow State Park - Killingworth
With a picnic shelter that can be reserved for up to 50 people, this is a beautiful place to have a party. There are picnic tables near the water for a very inexpensive rental fee. However, there is a parking fee for out-of-state vehicles.

Crandall Park - Tolland
Rent one of two picnic pavilions for a party. Your family and party goers will have exclusive use of the volleyball nets, charcoal grills, and horseshoe pits. This is a natural setting with hiking trails and a pond. For more details on the sites, see the website.
TreeTrails - Mystic
Not exactly a playground or a park, but definitely a great place for outdoor birthday fun. If your kids are between 7 and 17, you can hold their party at TreeTrails. Partygoers will receive training and orientation before the climb as well as swag bags. Reserve your picnic tables for a memorable birthday.
Mohegan Park - Norwich
Mohegan Park has playgrounds, picnic tables, and a beautiful rose garden. There are two pavilions for rent, available to both residents and non-residents. These pavilions can welcome a lot of people. If your party is smaller, you may consider the shady picnic area at Spaulding Pond Beach.
Esker Point Beach - Groton
There are two picnic areas available for rental at Esker Point Beach. For a low price, you can choose from two time slots (10-2 or 3-7). Both areas hold small parties of up to 15 people.
