From hayrides to petting zoos, farms with family entertainment near Boston offer plenty of kid-friendly fun. Whether you're in the mood for apple picking near Boston or out to visit farms and petting zoos around Boston, you're sure to find plenty of things to do. And many of these farms have fairs and festivals, as well as other seasonal events throughout the year. So whether it's mini golf or batting cages, there is something for everyone at these great farms near Boston.

Farms with Family Entertainment North of Boston

1. Connors Farm—Danvers 

The Connors Farm Corn Maze & Family Fun Days brings families to the North Shore every Fall, but Connors farm has entertainment for families in the Summer too! The Country Kitchen has delicious treats like apple crisp with ice cream, apple cider donuts, and more. Visit with barnyard animals, bounce on a jumping pillow, go for a train ride around the pond, hop on a hayride, and hit the play area filled with tricycles, playhouses, duck races, climbing structures, and more.

2. Cider Hill Farm—Amesbury 

From the Tulip Fest to Sweet Halloween at Cider Hill Farm, this farm has a calendar full of family entertainment. Cider Hill Farm has its very own food truck, the PitchFORK, parked onsite. Along with great meal options, this PYO farm is famous for its cider donuts. After filling up on sweet treats let your kids burn off some energy in the Tyke Yard and Sandbox. This farm is open daily from 8am to 6pm, April through December, but the food truck is only open Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm.

3. Richardson's Farm—Middleton

Visit this working dairy farm, the source of the legendary Richardson's ice cream, to grab a homemade scoop. With every flavor imaginable, from vanilla to bubblegum, you can come back for a different treat all summer long. While visiting, kids can take a swing at the batting cages, play a round of mini golf, or hit some balls at the driving range. The farm is open daily from 9am to 9pm (11pm on Friday and Saturday).

4. Smolak Farms—North Andover 

At North Andover's family fun destination, families can enjoy fun activities, like Fall Festival Weekends at Smolak Farms. Make sure to check the events calendar to see if there are any special activities happening. Kids can also enjoy hay wagon rides and a farm-themed playground. Be sure to visit and feed the animals. At their seasonal ice cream window, you can pick from delicious flavors, including the cider donut supreme. There are also monthly flavor specials to choose from, making multiple visits a must.

5. Applecrest Farm—Hampton Falls, NH 

Just over the border into New Hampshire, you'll find Applecrest Farm. Along with seasonal u-picking, the farm also hosts tons of events and festivals, from June through October. So make sure to check their calendar when planning your visit. The farm's ice cream stand is open daily in the Spring and Summer, on weekends in the Fall.

Farms with Family Entertainment West of Boston

6. Kimball Farm—Westford

Kimball Farm is truly an all-day experience. Kimball Farm in Westford has mini-golf, bumper boats, animal adventures, pony rides, batting cages, and much more in the way of family fun. There's an arcade and a zipline too! The ice cream window serves 50 different flavors of homemade ice cream and is well known for its generous helpings. The farm is open from 10am to 9pm, with different attractions open seasonally. Check the website for details.

7. Parlee Farms—Tyngsboro

This u-pick farm has Annie’s Animal Barn, with over 70 animals, like goats, chickens, sheep, and bunnies, to pet and feed. Parlee Farms also has a seasonal ice cream window and apple cider donuts. Pop into the farm stand for fresh produce and baked goods to take home on your way out. The farm is open Tuesday through Sunday, as well as on Monday holidays.

8. Tangerini's Spring Street Farm—Millis

Tangerini's Farm features a calendar full of family entertainment, from live music to haunted hayrides. The Farmer's Porch at Tangerini's serves breakfast on weekends and opens an ice cream shop for summer. Along with seasonal u-pick options for the kids, the farm also hosts kid cooking classes. Ice cream is open daily from 11 am to 7 pm. 

9. Tougas Family Farm—Northborough

At this u-pick farm, kids can visit the barnyard, playground, and farm kitchen with family-friendly activities, like wagon rides. Tougas Family Farm keeps family-friendly music in the air and fun seasonal activities on thr calendar. The kitchen has ice cream and milkshakes, along burgers, dogs, and even beer and cider for mom and dad. Hours depend on the supply of ripe fruit so check the website for updates. 

10. Davis Farmland—Sterling

This Boston-area farm has enough family entertainment to fill several weekend trips to Sterling. Davis Farmland has a petting zoo, a super slide, go karts, a spray park/splashpad in the summer, and apple picking in the fall.

11. Ward's Berry Farm—Sharon

Ward's Berry Farm in Sharon has hayrides, a playground, and a corn maze in the fall. The farm also hosts a beer garden on the weekends for mom and dad (wih live music), right next to the giant bounce pillows for the kids! And there is a full selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables.
