Ah, January: the month that makes me long for summer most. It’s tough to do a whole lot of outdoor activities with all of this residual snow and ice, so we went searching high and low for some great indoor events. Feeling like braving the elements? Well, maybe we’ve got an option for you, too!

The fee is $5 for adults, $3 for children.
Take a leisurely walk along the beach to an area where up to 4 different species of seals can be seen. The walk is about 2-3 hours and is led by a State Park Naturalist. Registration is required.

This event is free with museum admission.
As part of their ongoing series, “Saltwater Stories,” the LICM welcomes members of the Shinnecock Indian Nation. Meet them and learn about their fishing methods and the mutual responsibility of African Americans and Native Americans in the historical local whaling industry.

A perfect combination of mess – goopy, slimy, and chock full of Play-Doh – join LICM during one of their most popular weekend activities. You get credit for allowing the kids to mess up the place but YOU don’t have to clean it up. The best of both worlds!
