The Best Dance Summer Camps for Kids in Nassau County

Hip Hop Dreamz — Garden City

Tucked away in the Roosevelt Field mall is a summer camp for anyone who loves hip hop. Hip Hop Dreamz summer camp offers dance, yoga, and acting lessons. Beyond performing, campers take field trips to the pool, movie theater, and even Six Flags Great Adventure.

Hofstra University Dance Academy — Hempstead

Hofstra University Dance Academy exposes dancers to various genres, including jazz, pom, and hip-hop, emphasizing style, technical execution, flexibility, jumps, turns, and performance. Dancers are evaluated by the staff and assigned to a level based on experience and skill. 

Linda’s Studio of Performing Arts — Westbury

Whether you are looking for one day or the whole summer, LS Performing Arts has an option to fit. Besides learning to dance, campers create crafts, cook, and take field trips. This program wraps up with an end-of-summer showcase.

Long Island High School for the Arts — Syosset

This high school on the North Shore offers one-week sessions focussing on hip-hop and Broadway. Kids in grades 7-12 learn techniques from accomplished professionals and get to show off their new skills at the end of the session showcase. 

Long Island University Dance Summer Camp — Brookville

LIU offers a full-day camp for dancers of all levels, where kids learn and experience a variety of styles. To ensure all campers have a rewarding experience, coaches evaluate participants’ abilities and work to develop their techniques.

The Best Dance Summer Camps for Kids in Suffolk County

3D Dance Studios — Deer Park

The summer workshop at 3D Dance Studios has morning and afternoon sessions. Areas of focus include the spoken word, arts and crafts, African drum lessons, history, and of course, dance!  Field trips add to the fun.

Posey School of Dance — Northport

This dance school in the heart of Northport offers summer sessions for toddlers to teens. Intensive classes covering ballet, pointe, variations, jazz, tap, and more are available for dancers ages 7 and up. The preschool program teaches kids the basics of rhythm and movement. Sessions are weekly, and you can sign up for whatever suits your schedule. 

The Ballet Center — Ronkonkoma

Dancers learn from professionals at this one-week intensive camp that focuses on ballet. Days are filled with pointe, contemporary, and choreography classes, and the week culminates in a performance for family and friends.

Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts — Wheatley Heights

Kids can practice and perfect their moves in the open air at this Suffolk County camp for the arts. All studios have two sides wholly exposed to the surrounding woodland campus. Training at Usdan is described as “rigorous,” although classes are available for all levels.
