Getting Ready for Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene is getting all the attention right now, and though we hate to overload you with hurricane news, we do want to make sure everyone is safe and sound. And once you are safe and sound, we would like you all to be sane, and maybe even entertained, while waiting for the storm to pass. Here are a few links to help:

For emergency information and storm updates, take a look at noaa.com. For advice about how to prepare for a hurricane, check ready.gov.
And if we are all lucky enough to just get lots of rain and a little boredom, check out our collection of great activity and craft links in our NYC site's Hurricane Irene: How to Have Fun With the Kids When You're Stuck at Home.
Be safe.
About the Author

Katia Williford
A former Brooklyn gal, Katia ended up back on the East Coast after looping through Chicago where she met her husband. Together they have two beautiful children, an energetic dog, and a slightly feral cat that throws up strategically while they sleep, leaving an obstacle course for the family to navigate in the morning. She's worked at a big ad agency, a bakery, auditioned for and acted in some shows, trained and performed with a circus school, and co-created and ran a crepe stand at a farmer's market. Late at night, when she's done putting the finishing touches on a Mommy Poppins project, she finds herself obsessively pouring through decor, food, and mom blogs.
