It’s time to get in the autumn spirit! New Jersey is welcoming the beautiful month of October in a big way with dozens of family-friendly activities to help you make the most of the season. Get your fill of all things pumpkin during Pumpkin Palooza 2015 at the Garden State Discovery Museum, the Holmdel Harvest Festival at Bayonet Farm or the 15th Annual Pumpkin Festival at Whippany Railway Museum. For more fun to round out your fall weekend, get tickets to the Harvest Moon Hayride at Alstede Farms or bring your little reader to the Morristown Festival of Books. Pumpkin Palooza 2015 (Cherry Hill, NJ)
The Garden State Discovery Museum is teaming up with Springdale Farms to offer all-day fun at two of South Jersey's favorites. At the Museum, visitors can take pony rides, enjoy a moon bounce, create fall crafts and enjoy all of the museum's hands-on exhibits. Just a mile up the road at Springdale Farms, hop on a hay ride and pick your own pumpkin.
Holmdel Harvest Festival (Holmdel, NJ)
Check out Holmdel Township’s annual Fall Harvest at Bayonet Farm for a fun weekend featuring crafts, food vendors, entertainment, pony rides, a petting zoo, wagon rides and more. Stick around for a children's Halloween movie on Saturday evening, followed by a fireworks display.
Fido’s Festival USA (Columbus, NJ)
Calling all canine lovers! Fido’s Fest is geared towards dogs and their families. Visitors can expect dog and family activities such as superhero-themed contests, dock diving, a lure course benefiting the National Canine Cancer Foundation, expert demos and entertainment. Rescues and shelter booths will showcase adoptable pups.

Storytime: We’re in the Wrong Book! (Springfield, NJ)
Head to your local Barnes & Noble for story time and activities featuring We're in the Wrong Book, by Richard Byrne. Bella and Ben are back, and they're in the wrong book! When a potato sack race goes awry, the characters find themselves bumped from their familiar page a brave new world of lollipops and sphinxes and other zany adventures.
Lenape Day (Chatham, NJ)
Celebrate the Lenape people at this hands-on event for the entire family at Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center. Festivities include dancing, drums, vendors and historical talks by the Ramapough Lenape People. Kids can enjoy games, crafts, touring a replica wigwam and other activities.
Harvest Moon Hayride (Chester, NJ)
The ultimate fall fun at Alstede Farms: a hayride under a beautiful moon on a crisp fall night, a roaring campfire, a cup of steaming hot cider and the sounds of country music filling the air. If you’re up for more nighttime fun, bring your flashlight to tackle their corn maze after dark!
Morristown Festival of Books (Morristown, NJ)
Morristown Festival of Books brings together acclaimed authors with readers and book lovers. The festival will feature more than 25 authors at different locations, including some great children's book authors. Join in the festivities as famous children’s authors read from their books, answer questions and sign copies of their work.

Blackwood Pumpkin Festival (Blackwood, NJ)
The Blackwood Pumpkin Festival features pumpkin painting, hay rides, scarecrow making, amusement rides, a pony carousel, bounce houses, fun contests and more – whew! And music lovers will definitely want to check out live entertainment on four different stages.
Woodlands Wildlife Refuge Community Day (Pittstown, NJ)
Tucked into a corner of Hunterdon County, Woodlands Wildlife Refuge has been caring for and releasing thousands of injured wild animals since 1986. Community Day is an educational day for the whole family that includes self-guided tours, a chance to meet the animals and the Kid’s Den, an interactive area with wildlife-focused activities and crafts.
15th Annual Pumpkin Festival (Whippany, NJ)
Celebrate the Fall Harvest at the Whippany Railway Museum with train rides and a Halloween crafts & vendor fair. Take a relaxing, nostalgic 30-minute trip into the past onboard the "Pumpkinliner" featuring antique cabooses before checking out the awesome display of pumpkins, scarecrows and farm tractors.
