Weekend Fun for LI Kids: Live Reindeer, Homemade Snow Globes, Winter Solstice Celebration December 19-20

With just a few weekends left in 2015, try to make them count. Pack the days with family friendly fun like checking out various ongoing light shows around Long Island, building a homemade snow globe at the Children's Museum of the East End or visit Santa and his Reindeer at Hicks Nurseries. Holiday Lights SpectacularWantagh. At Jones Beach, this drive-through holiday light show features more than 150 displays, hot beverages, snacks and make your own s’mores. Multiple dates; check for closed dates in the event description.

Boardwalk LightsLong Beach. Walk along the Long Beach Boardwalk after sunset and look up at the holiday lights display. Free.

Girl Scouts Of Suffolk County Holiday Light ShowBayport. Open daily from December 11 - 23 from 5-9 pm. Drive through a mile-long wooded trail filled with light displays and holiday vignettes. Note: The holiday village will not be open this year.

Bayville Winter WonderlandBayville. At Bayville Adventure Park, this ongoing event includes ice skating, holiday light show, train ride, rock climbing, character meet and greet, holiday arts and crafts and more. Except for some closed days, this event runs through Jan. 2.

Meet Santa & His ReindeerWestbury. At Hicks Nurseries, Santa will be in the store daily. Mail a letter to Santa in their North Pole mailbox and Santa will answer it. Visit real, live reindeer, departing on December 22. Runs through Dec. 24.

The Little MermaidSmithtown. Live performance at the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts.

Mrs. Claus Saves The DayEast Islip Live performance at the BayWay Arts Center.

Christmas In OzElmont. Live performance at the BroadHollow Theatre at Elmont.

Brunch With Santa at Watermill CaterersSmithtown. At Watermill Caterers. Sunday too.

Homemade Snow GlobesBridgehampton.At The Children's Museum of the East End, they’ll provide everything they need—including miniature animal figurines—to help make a wintery wonderland work of art for them to take home and enjoy.

Brunch with SantaEast Meadow. This pay-per-person event at The Carltun includes one professional photo with Santa.

Holiday Army Truck Ride - Farmingdale. At the American Airpower Museum, enjoy hot chocolate, candy canes, pictures with Santa and a holiday truck ride in an Army truck.

Holiday Gift Making WorkshopMerrick.At The Fashion Class workshop that take place in their Merrick studio, students can choose from one to five items to make during a three-hour window.

Christmas Punch & JudySag Harbor. Goat on a Boat at Bay Street Theater. Punch and his lovely wife Judy have been married for centuries. The time has come for Mr. Punch to pitch in around the house. This hand-carved puppet duo will take over the kitchen in this hilarious holiday domestic disaster that ends with a kiss.

Parents' Survival Night: Winter BlastMerrick. At The Little Gym, your children get some quality “kid time” in a safe, fun, familiar place with trained instructors. This is a drop-off event.
