There's no shortage of shoreline in Fairfield County, but that doesn't mean you won't pine for an outdoor swimming pool from time to time. Finding one you're allowed to use, however, may be more challenging than finding an affordable beach. Many towns have never had them. Others have shut them down for safety/insurance reasons. That leaves a handful of town pools, and those at private clubs (and ok, yes, countless backyard pools, but we're assuming you gave up your fence-hopping days when Junior came along). Mommy Poppins has done some digging, and found a handful you can pay to take a dip in for the day. One is straightforward, pay-at-the-door, no-questions-asked; the others will demand an answer to, 'Who do you know?'
Wolfe Park Pool - Monroe
The one, the only, totally public pool. It was beautifully renovated in recent years and is situated in a park so great, we devoted a large portion of a Day Trip post to it. All this being said, it'd be an expensive pool day -- $24 per entry for each of those 3 and up. After 5pm, it drops to $10 per person (it's open until 8pm). If you'd like to use it more than once, consider the 4-Person Family Membership for non-residents, which is $400 for the season.

Beach Park Pool & Tashua Pool - Trumbull
There are two town pools in Trumbull, lucky ducks. Guests can accompany a town resident, free of charge (resident must obtain a Guest Punchcard). Tashua Pool boasts a fenced-in kiddie pool, waterslide in the main pool, and most critical, the non-resident parking lot up by the golf clubhouse. Beach Pool has a fantastic zero entry for youngsters, a waterslide, and also a sprinkler park, but guests have to pile into their host's car, as parking requires a town sticker. There are concessions and shade installations at both, too.

Mill River Country Club - Stratford
A member friend can get you access beyond the stark white palatial walls for $5 per person on weekdays, and $8 on the weekends. They claim their Olympic-size pool is the largest of any club in the area.

Doubtless, other country clubs have guest policies for their pools, too. So, if you have a friend at one, ask, or wait around for the invite. Worst case scenario, you wind up at the beach. Not so bad!
