Looking for a place to hold a kid’s birthday party south of Boston? We continue our series of indoor birthday party places for active kids with six different types of parties on the South Shore - gymnastics, dance, rock climbing, swimming, open play, and skating - that all allow kids to stay active and have fun in a safe, indoors environment.

And as with any party that is not held in your home, they all offer advantages like plenty of space, no weather worries, no mess to clean up afterwards, and minimal preparation required for parents. Tumble Fun Gymnastics

Average Party Size: 15 children

Parties are held Saturdays and Sundays and include 1 hour of gymnastics led by Tumble Fun instructors plus a half hour in the party room, where you are the host. Activities are age-appropriate for the birthday child, and can include use of equipment such as a trampoline, a 30-foot tumble trax, spring floor, balance beam, bars, and an inflatable moonwalk. Parties start at $250.


Mamas Move

Mamas Move offers a simple Party and Play in the Explorazone indoor play area for little ones turning 1 year to 6 years. Its Zumbatomic Birthday, Bricks4Kidz LEGOS® or Fashion Faux Slumber Party are for kids 4-9 years. Select a movement class, development class, theme, or simply come for just open play and indoor birthday party fun. Rates are based on services selected and for 15 children with accompanying adult. It’s recommended you call to book your party 6-8 weeks in advance during peak (winter) season.

InSync offers a number of party themes, from Purely Princesses and American Girl to Jedi Training and Legos. InSync can also customize a party for your child. Each party includes 1 1/2 hours of party time, 1 InSync instructors, paper goods, invitations, set up and clean up. All you need to bring is the cake, drinks and any goody bags. Parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays. Party spots do fill up quickly and space is limited so call early. Parties start at $250.


Webb's Pro Fitness

Average Party Size: 15-20

Webb’s Pro Fitness offers pool parties for kids on Saturdays and Sundays. There is also a party room for cake and presents. Options exist for a variety of budgets, from daytime pool-only parties, in which the party occupies half of the pool to an evening pool/party room party in which the party has private use of the pool and party room.


Boch Ice Center

Average Party Size: can accommodate up to 20 skaters

During a Boch Ice Center hockey or ice skating party, kids can skate for an hour and enjoy cake and presents in a party room afterwards. Cost: $200, including use of the function room. (Note that skate rentals are not available at this location, so all attendees will have to bring their own skates.)  During the winter, parties can be booked on Saturdays at 12:30pm; there are more options in the spring and summer, so call to check availability.


Rock On Adventure Norwood

The birthday child can choose from among several Rock On adventures, or mix and match to create a great experience.

Party options:

  1. Rock Climbing - At least 6 to 8 can climb at once on the 24-foot walls; 20 can climb at once on the 10-foot bouldering walls;
  2. Nerf Tag – Kids play high energy, low-impact, theme-based games using foam dart blasters;
  3. Dance Party – Bring in your favorite music - Rock On will play it along with lighting effects and dance games;
  4. Aerial Acrobatics - In this performing arts party theme, party-goers suspend from silks, perform trapeze, and spin in spanish web and lyra

Included with every party are invitation post cards; a trip down the zipline for the birthday child (or for all party-goers with Epic party option); and a space for cake and drinks (bring your own).
