Value Drugs - Bronxville
80 Pondfield Road
When I was a kid, there was nothing quite like a trip to the local “5 & 10”; a store that featured a variety of items, most of them available for mere pennies. Today, many of these stores have faded into the memories of parents and become legends like the walk to school, in the snow, uphill both ways. For children, Value Drugs in Bronxville holds much of the promise of the old 5 & 10s. While many of the products for sale cost well over a dollar, a large section of the store is devoted to small toys, crafts, candies and knick-knacks aimed at children. Just a dollar or two will purchase small animal figurines, a tiny magic trick, a small bag of candy or any number of other little treasures.
Womrath Bookshop - Bronxville
76 Pondfield Road
In business for over 74 years, Womrath Books has seen the birth, rise and fall of several large chain bookstores—and for an independent book seller, this is no small feat! Womrath is a business that knows its community, stocking books for students at local colleges, ordering large quantities for book groups, opening at midnight for the release of long-awaited sequels and hosting events for children and families. The shop’s large children’s section features classics, local authors, new books and award winning stories for babies, toddlers, children, teens and young adults. If the book you are looking for is not on the shelves, just check at the front desk. Staff at the store will be happy to order it for you.
