There are so many fantastic events happening it really is hard to choose. I hope this list makes things a bit easier and inspires you to do something fun with the family. Drumroll please….here's my top CT picks for the weekend, August 6-7th.

Easton's 76th Annual Fireman's Carnival - Easton
This is the last weekend of the Easton Fireman's Carnival. Who can ever have enough bumper cars and cotton candy? You can even get a slice of their famous peach cake.

Litchfield County 4-H Fair - Goshen
Goshen Fair Grounds
We love 4-H fairs. All of those cute animals to see up close and personal. You'll find livestock and agriculture competitions, midway rides and much more.

Litchfield Jazz Festival - Kent
Kent School
This popular jazz festival on the beautiful Kent School grounds only happens once a year. Sit on the lawn and listen to Jazz or go inside to see it live.

Family Overnight Simple Summer Pleasures - Mystic
Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center
Spend the night at the Nature Center with your family. Learn more about bats, owls and moths, test your night senses on a guided hike and wrap up the evening with s'mores around the campfire. In the morning you can enjoy an early morning walk or sleep in and join us for a quick breakfast before packing up. You can sleep inside the Nature Center or set up your own tent on the Nature Center's grounds.

Who knew you didn't have to go down to the Caribbean to experience their culture? Food and delicious cuisine will be on hand as The Hartford Riverfront Recapture  hosts a series of free Cultural Festivals this summer.

Learn all about Monarch butterflies! - Newtown
Sticks and Stones Farm
Mike Wallace will teach us about butterfly habitat, their host plants & life cycle.  You'll watch a film and then take a monarch home in one of it’s stages to watch the magic unfold!

Notes in the Woods - Warren
Listen to local music performers, including Chris Ellis, Tryst, Don Lowe & the Lowdowns and the Regulators at this outdoor concert. Bring a family picnic or purchase food there.

52nd Annual Sharon on the Green Arts and Craft Fair - Sharon
