This weekend, the Avon will show The Muppet Movie (1979) at noon each day to give audiences a chance to see the original classic before the newest film in the Muppet franchise, The Muppets, opens the following week. On Thanksgiving weekend (November 25-27 at noon only) The Avon presents Being Elmo. A Sundance award-winning documentary about Americaʼs most loveable celebrity and his creator. The Avon is thrilled to offer a chance for all ages to enjoy the movie-going experience the way it was meant to be; on a big screen, with an audience and a bag of popcorn. Muppet Mania is in the air and was covered on the NYC site this week.

The fully restored Avon Theatre, features independent, documentary, foreign films and Hollywood classics. The theatre is highlighted by an original exterior facade, framed by a restored vertical "AVON" marquee that lights up the Connecticut sky at night. Murals that were commissioned by a local artist, Oscar Glas, evoke a sense of local history by paying homage to the early settlers and Native Americans of coastal Stamford.
