Does your child love to dance? Let them dance the summer away at one of the many dance-focused summer camps in Westchester. Whether your child is a beginner or seasoned performer, these camps are sure to have an option kids love. 

We’ve rounded up a number of dance camps offering summer day programs in Westchester and the Hudson Valley. With instruction in a variety of styles, from ballet and jazz to hip-hop, Bollywood, and musical theater, the programs range from instructionally intensive dance programs to fun, traditional-style camps with dance as an elective. Many of the camps have virtual options as well so students can participate from the comfort of home. Plus, a number of the studios, including Steffi Nossen, offer adaptive classes for kids with special needs.

Dance Summer Day Camps in Southern Westchester

The Dance Gallery — Tuckahoe

This dance studio offers half-day summer camp programs for children ages 4 to 12 and includes instruction in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, musical theater, contemporary, dance, and acrobatics. The dance camp for ages 4 to 6 focuses on a different type of dance every week and also includes storytimes, games, and arts and crafts. 

Steffi Nossen School of Dance — White Plains

Steffi Nossen’s dance camp is available in weekly sessions for ages 3 to 13, from Storybook Dance for toddlers to Dance Intensive for tweens and teens. In addition to daily technique classes in modern dance, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop, dancers learn how to create and design their own dances in composition class.

Dance Cavise Studios — Mamaroneck

Dance Cavise offers summer programs for ages 3 to 18 with beginner, intermediate, and advanced intensive programs. Dancers can have fun in the summer while continuing and expanding dance training. The studio also offers a hybrid program with options of training in studio or from home on a digital device.  

Studio B Dance Center — Eastchester

Studio B offers summer dance camp for ages 3 to 10, with instruction in different dance styles each day, including ballet and pre-ballet, creative movement, jazz, musical theater, and hip-hop. The day is rounded out with age-appropriate activities from storytime and arts and crafts to yoga, tumbling, and obstacle courses. 

JCC Midwestchester — Scarsdale

At JCC's Summer Dance Intensive, dancers ages 12 through 18 have the opportunity to train with professionals. Classes in ballet, tap, and hip-hop are available in two-week sessions or for the full summer.

Magical Movements of Dance — Harrison

Magical Movements offers summer programs and mini-camps for dancers starting at age 3, a musical theater review for ages 7 to 10 and preteen boot camp for 10 to teen. Dance styles include ballet, hip-hop, jazz, jumps and turns, lyrical, modern, and pro-team dance. This studio also offers on- and off-site pod classes, virtual in-studio classes, and private and semi-private lessons throughout summer.

Dance Summer Day Camps in Northern Westchester

No Limits Performing Arts Studio — Elmsford

This studio offers its Dance and Play camps for students ages 3 to 10  as well as a more intensive dance camp for students 10 and older, and an off-site musical theater camp for students ages 8 and older. The weekly Dance and Play camps are designed for children to enjoy the art of dance and creativity while also getting the opportunity to play with their peers using The Play Place's facility. Students will dance in the studios, participate in dance games and activities based on the weekly theme, create arts and crafts, and play in The Play Place's climbing structure, field, and outdoor playground. 

Westchester Dance Artists — Ossining

This multidisciplinary camp offers weekly sessions with classes in acting, dance, singing, arts and crafts, costuming, performing, and more for students in kindergarten to eighth grade. 
Students split into groups based on interest. Some might choose arts and crafts activities and others a breakdancing class. Students can also work on a nonmandatory performance, to be filmed on Fridays and sent to parents Friday or Saturday evening. Shows are selected by the students—one week, students might perform Grease, another week a cabaret performance of pop songs. On Wednesdays, parents pick up their child at the Ossining Waterfront Splash Pad.

The Harvey School — Katonah

The Harvey School Dance Camp provides a traditional day camp experience with a focus on dance for children in grades 5 through 8. Campers focus on a number of dance techniques and disciplines. With a multitude of classes each week, campers explore different dance styles such as jazz, lyrical, modern, and Broadway dance. There is also an introduction to choreography and other performing arts skills, with weekly performance opportunities available. To broaden their experience, campers take electives outside of dance as well as participate in games and camp-wide events.

Dance Summer Day Camps in the Hudson Valley

Hudson River Performing Arts Center — Fishkill

This studio provides camp options tailored to students' interest and skill levels, available as in-person or Zoom camps. Junior dance camp begins at age 3 and includes ballet, jazz, tap, and tumbling. For more advanced dancers, there are ballet intensives, lyrical/jazz camps, and repertory company sessions to prepare students for the world of professional dance. Also available is musical theater camp, in which students learn choreography and lines seen on the Broadway stage.

The Vanaver Caravan — New Paltz

The Vanaver Caravaan holds summer dance classes and workshops for ages 4 to 18 at the outdoor, open-air dance studios of Stone Mountain Farm. In the CaravanKids program for ages 4 to 8, students take morning dance classes and also learn dances, songs, and folk tales from other countries. SummerDance, for ages 9 to 18, is an immersive outdoor dance program, in which students experience master classes with renowned faculty, explore the Hudson Valley, and bond with an amazing community. Students train in a number of dance forms—modern, ballet, percussive, step, flamenco, flying/aerial lessons, strength training, Afro-Carribean Soca, swing dance, jazz vernacular, yoga, choreography challenges, performance theater, Bollywood, and more. Outdoor classes, performances, and social dis(dance) parties are just some of the offerings this year.

Art in Motion — Poughkeepsie

Art in Motion studio offers full-day dance camps in skill levels ranging from first steps to intensive. During all sessions, students receive training in ballet, pointe (if approved), jazz, hip-hop, tumbling, performance skills, and modern/contemporary dance. Students also learn dance history, improvisation, choreography, and much more.
