The last weekend in March is here, and with it, many great ways for Philly families to start off the springtime season. From festivals and performances to a resurgence of outdoor activities, everyone in the family is sure to appreciate the fun that awaits.

Why not begin the weekend with a festival? As part of CultureFest!, Penn Museum's Nowruz Festival is a Persian celebration welcoming the new season. Exciting activities engage kids in storytelling, art projects, performances, and workshops highlighting these cultural traditions. Another sign of spring is maple syrup. Those wanting to learn about the process can take a ride to Festival Park in Meyerdale for its PA Maple Festival where families can learn about this industry native to our region.

Once finished with festival fun, grab a ticket to a local show. Young ones are sure to delight in Walnut Street Theatre's Pinkalicious: The Musical, Merriam Theatre's Peg + Cat Live!, or Ambler Theatre's Aggy the Adventurer while older kids can experience the classic tale of a whale during Hedgerow Theatre' Moby Dick. After seeing a show, get outside to search for birds, take a hike, or play at the park. Families looking for sensory-friendly activities can find special programming at Brandywine River Museum and train rides at The Colebrookdale Railroad.
