This week's hot tips and important stories for parents, so you can be the most-in-the-knowiest.

The Mommy Wars staring Sarah Palin
.  Having raised a bunch of debates with her scandal filled life, somehow this gun toting, moose eating, anti-choice woman is suddenly the poster child for working moms. I am all for her exercising her rights to make the choice to go back to work 3 days after having a kid even if I couldn't even get off the couch on day 3 but that don't make me like her. And anyway, in the end it's her politics that we need to watch out for not her mommy style.

Blogger Susie Bright admits to feeling somewhat sorry for her, she's the latest "photogenic 'spokesmodel' that the GOP specializes in recruiting for jobs that they prefer to be handled by professionals behind the scenes". Vanity Fair reports on the reaction by Urban Baby mommies and it's not good. And for some reason her story inspires movie comparisons - Gawker does a Juno comparison and my favorite, Maureen Dowd's op-ed compares the whole saga to Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality.

Handmade Heaven. Etsy Kids holds a Craft Sweepstakes where you can vote on your favorite kid crafts by midnight Monday night and 14 voters win a $350 Etsy shopping spree. But everyone wins the fun of browsing through Etsy Kid crafts.

First week of School Blues.  If you are hating your kid's new teacher, the website Positive Parenting gives hints for handling the conflict in an article titled "I'm calling Your Mother!" Boundary-Setting with Your Child's Teachers.   But if your blues are more about feeling sad about letting go of the summer top mixoligists update classic girly summer cocktails on Salon so you can drink it all away. Just kidding.

Craigslist Fame.  Fed up mom looking for a Nanny (and a book deal) on Craigslist tells it like it is. “My kids are a pain,”  was the opening line of her Craigslist solicitation for a live-in nanny.  I always like reading about moms who let it all hang out, and with all the press she got, you can be sure the book will be out soon.

Fire Up the TIVO.  This season the boring TV executives in LA have resurrected both 90210 and Knight Rider which are sure to be excruciatingly terrible, can't they come up with an original idea? We all know most TV sucks (with the exception of Project Runway), but there might be a few good new ones coming to a tube near you:

Kath & Kim is about a mother and daughter trapped in suburbia and stars the hysterical Molly Shanon and Selma Blair.  (Thurs nights at 8:30 on NBC).

The other is Sit Down, Shut Up, an animated Simpsonesque show about the lives of teachers in a high school in a small northeastern town who "never lose sight of the fact that the children must ALWAYS come second". (Sunday nights at 8:30 on FOX).

As for kiddie TV, the NY Times reports onThe Imagination Movers, a new Disney Channel show that sort of looks like the Wiggles but promises more.

Vitamins for baby?
NY Times reports on new findings that exclusively breast-fed babies may be associated with Vitamin D Deficiency and rickets according to recent research though Mothering Magazine disputes.  And now for some better news for nursing babes, another study shows that breastfed babies may have lower cholesterol in adulthood.
