Tween Concerts: Summer Jam Live at Stepping Stones Museum
Last week my boys and I had the pleasure of attending our first tween concert at Stepping Stones Museum's Summer Jam Live. Lil P-Nut is an 8 year old rapper who has been featured on the “The Ellen Degeneres Show” and currently has a deal with Cartoon Network. The boys and their friends were mesmerized as he rapped about elementary school and puppy love. When asked to have their photo taken in front of the sponsor wall the boys said they felt like they were "on the red carpet". The next day, when I saw the photo on Stepping Stone's Facebook page I couldn't help but giggle at the excitement and awkwardness in their smiles.

The concerts are held in the courtyard, a large outdoor space with a fixed "tent top", which provides plenty of space for kids to hang out. We made our entrance as DJ Jadin played club-mixes (which really up'd the cool factor). The dance floor had kids busting the latest break-dancing moves (or not). There was even a Parent's Lounge.
We spent the afternoon at the beach in Norwak (5 minutes away) before the concert began and made a day trip out of it. At the concert, snacks were available for purchase and, best of all, delicious free probiotic ice-cream bars by JALA were being handed out to anyone in need.
Stepping Stones is doing a great job of creating a fun, cool and safe concert experience for the tween and younger set. Lucky for you there are two summer shows left! Don't miss out on these remaining shows and have a rockin' good time:
August 10th: Acoustic Concert featuring the three Burnham Brothers from Long Island who opened for Justin Bieber in concert last year. Stereo Skyline, another Long Island Band, formed while its members were still in high school and have been compared to the Jonas Brothers.
August 17th: Battle of the Bands features the best local bands competing for concert-goers favorite vote.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Doors open at 6pm and the concerts start at 7pm. You can buy tickets at: www.steppingstonesmuseum.org/summerjam.
