Are you ready for the hustle and bustle of this crazy, long-awaited week? Christmas is finally here, and so is the start of winter break. Keeping your family busy, while keeping your sanity in check, is our top priority this week. Get revved up for Christmas at State Theatre’s production of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Berkeley Heights Library’s Gingerbread Cookie Decoration and New Jersey State Museum’s Laser Holiday Magic. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (New Brunswick)
Join everyone’s favorite reindeer and friends as they come to life on stage at State Theatre of NJ. Watch Rudolph, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Hermey the Elf and the Abominable Snow Monster as they learn about the magic of being unique. There are two performances that day.

Gingerbread Story/Cookie Decoration (Berkeley Heights)
It’s that gingerbread cookie time of year. Head over to Berkeley Heights Library for a yummy evening of gingerbread stories and cookie decorating. FREE

Central NJ:
Snowflake Party (Basking Ridge)
We may not have had the real deal yet this season, but kids can create their own giant snowflakes to take home. Directions and supplies are included. FREE
Northern NJ:
Sing-Along Winter Puppet Show (Edgewater)
The little ones will love this musical puppet show, featuring Sam the Sea Lion, Oliver the Octopus and Freddy the Fish. Entrance fee includes open play.

Laser Holiday Magic! (Trenton)
Brighten up your week with a spectacular laser beam show at the New Jersey State Museum’s Planetarium. The kids will be in awe of the colorful laser beams as they dance to holiday music. See link for various dates and times.

Winter Break at Sahara Sam’s (West Berlin)
Start off winter break with a splash at Sahara Sam’s indoor water park, where it’s always warm and sunny. Full day passes are available Wednesday and Thursday this week plus next week.

A day off from school is a day full of fun at JCC of Central New Jersey’s “Pajama Party” vacation day. Activities include swimming, sports and crafts. Open to non-members.

Nativity comes to life with an intergenerational cast at Grace Christian Church. FREE but donations to World Vision are appreciated.

Looking for fun and laughs on Christmas Day? The Kaplan JCC on the Palisades hosts ventriloquist Jonathan Geffner and his silly puppet sidekicks in a comical performance.
Jersey Shore:
Historic Smithville Holiday Light Show (Smithville)
Top off Christmas with a spectacular light show at Historic Smithville. Over 50,000 lights adorn over 120 Christmas trees floating on Lake Meone. The display runs through January 6th.
