Three New Ice Skating Rinks in NYC This Year
There seems to be an explosion of new ice skating rinks in NYC this year. Last week we reported that the American Museum of Natural History is opening a new ice skating rink in November and now we've heard of two more new rinks opening this winter.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
The City Ice Pavilion will be a huge, NHL-sized, indoor, rooftop ice skating rink in Long Island City, expected to open around Thanksgiving or December of this year. Skating will be $6-$8 and be available weekday afternoons and weekends from 12 to 2:50. The rink will also have youth ice hockey clinics for boys and girls and figure skating lessons.
The South Street Seaport (pictured above) is also going to be home to a new ice skating rink this year. Expected to open November 28th, the new ice rink will be open every day from 10am to 10pm. Admission will be $5 and rentals will be $7. The rink iwill be outdoors on Pier 17 and should be a lovely setting for skating, with views of the East River, tall ships and Brooklyn.

The site, used by millions of families, has grown to become the ultimate resource for parents in the major US cities, plus travel guides for 100s of destinations.
Anna is a believer in the magic of summer camps, traveling with kids, and that you can raise kids on a budget and still have a rich life full of amazing memories. Anna's first Mommy Poppins book, The Young Traveler's Journal and Activity Book, published in 2025 and co-written with her daughter, Amelia Eigerman, brings that ethos to life, in addition to this website.
