Mommy Poppins Travel Activity Book for Kids is Coming!

Exciting news: our first ever Mommy Poppins book is coming out on May 6th, 2025. If you pre-order your copy today, we’ve created a fun pre-order bonus for you.
I’m so excited to finally share something really special with you—our very first book, The Young Traveler’s Journal and Activity Book! Since starting Mommy Poppins in 2007, first as my personal blog and then watching it grow into this amazing community, I’ve been traveling with my family all over the world in order to share our travel tips, destination guides, and so many activity ideas. Now, Mommy Poppins is jumping out of the internet into a real, hold it in your hands book for the first time. I can’t wait for you all to see it!
Designed for curious kids ages 7–12, the book is packed with all kinds of fun activities to keep them entertained and engaged—whether you’re flying halfway around the world or just exploring your own neighborhood. What I love most about it is that it’s more than just something to keep them busy. The activities and prompts teach valuable travel skills, like being flexible, staying curious, and handling little bumps along the way. Honestly, those are skills that come in handy whether you’re traveling or just dealing with everyday life!

Take the book with you on road trips to make time in the car more fun!
The spirit of Mommy Poppins has always been to treat every day as an adventure and turn family time into more enriching moments. It’s behind everything we do and I’m so happy that this book takes that to another level. This is a travel book that isn’t about a specific destination, which means it works whether you're on a big adventure or doing a little day trip close to home. There are even activities and tips that help turn a trip to the grocery store or a visit with relatives into an adventure. And not the kind where your child gets lost in aisle 7, but a good kind of adventure!
The other really special thing about this book is that I co-wrote it with my daughter, Amelia. When I started Mommy Poppins Amelia was just in elementary school. Now all grown up, it was an amazing experience to work on this together. Amelia brought so much insight into what it’s like to travel as a kid and sensitivity to helping kids navigate the sometimes big feelings and frustrations in travel. Let’s face it, traveling as a family isn’t always fun, and we really tried to give kids a place to process some of that through the journaling prompts and activities in the book.
A Free Gift: Top Secret Adventure Activity Kit
As a thank you, Amelia and I created a really fun Top Secret Adventure Activity Kit. that we’re giving away as a gift to anyone who pre-orders the book. It’s an 8-page printable with activities designed to prompt hours of creative and curious fun. It’s only available as part of the pre-order deal. To order the book and get the pre-order bonus, visit our book page.
By the way, before working with a publisher I didn’t really understand how a pre-order works! If you are also wondering, when you pre-order a book, you do not get charged until the book ships, but it puts a hold on the book for you and you get it first when the book does start shipping. I guess Amazon and other booksellers use pre-orders to understand how much excitement there is about a book and they will order more copies if there are a lot of pre-orders, so pre-ordering really helps support the authors. So, if you do pre-order, thank you!

About the Author

Founder of Mommy Poppins
A fourth-generation Brooklynite, Anna started Mommy Poppins in 2007 to help families find the best things to do with kids in NYC, with a particular emphasis on sharing activities that are free, affordable, and enriching. The site, used by millions of families, has grown to become the ultimate resource for parents in the major US cities, plus travel guides for 100s of destinations.
Anna is a believer in the magic of summer camps, traveling with kids, and that you can raise kids on a budget and still have a rich life full of amazing memories. Anna's first Mommy Poppins book, The Young Traveler's Journal and Activity Book, published in 2025 and co-written with her daughter, Amelia Eigerman, brings that ethos to life, in addition to this website.
