Long Island Kids' Activities April 11, 12, 13: Egg Hunts, Spring Festivals, Live Performances & More

It's here! It's here! Spring has sprung and the weather has finally been cooperative for consecutive days. Take advantage by heading outdoors to any of the several Easter Egg Hunts taking place this weekend. Or stay inside for some magical live performances, including The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley101 DalmatiansAlice in Wonderland Ballet or Seussical Jr.

All Weekend

The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley - Northport. The beloved children&'s books written by Jeff Brown in 1964 have become a literary and pop culture phenomenon, delighting readers and travelers all over the world. Now everyone's favorite two dimensional hero is brought to life on stage!

Messy Afternoons - Garden City (LICM). A hands-on, multi-sensory experience.

Alice in Wonderland Ballet - Ronkonkoma. Follow Alice down the rabbit hole into the fantastical world of Wonderland. Ballet Long Island's ballet is an adventure on stage with thrilling choreography and great costumes.

Ernest & Celestine - Huntington. A flowing, tender and playful film about an unlikely friendship between a bear and a mouse. Kids tickets are $5.

Bean Yoga - Great Neck. This class is designed to engage, stimulate and relax your beans after a long school day.

Saturday, April 12

The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig - Oakdale. Walk the red carpet before the live performance and then meet the cast after. Tickets are $12 each.

Are You My Mother? Animal Program - Bridgehampton. Children ages 3-5 can learn what baby animals are named. $5 per child.

Seussical Jr. - Smithtown. This live performance of Seussical for the little ones.

Saturday Art Studio - Oyster Bay. Blooms, bugs and garden art. $24 for first child/$18 per sibling.

Second Saturdays at the HUM - Hempstead (Hofstra). Look, share and create on the Second Saturday of the month from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Hofstra University Museum! In each session led by museum educators, kids and their grown up companions will explore works of art and then engage in a hands-on activity inspired by what they have seen and discussed.

Train a Seal, Kiss a Lion - Riverhead (Aquarium) From now throughout September, Long Island Aquarium visitors will have a unique opportunity to get up close to seals and sea lions each Saturday.

Easter Parade - Bellmore. Line up at the fire house on Pettit Avenue to march along Bedford Avenue. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos. Local merchants will be giving out goodies.

Stories for the Earth - Smithtown. Join educators, naturalists, storytellers, poets, and others for a celebration of the Earth through stories, readings, and poems at Sweetbriar Nature Center.

Kite Flying Day - Plandome. Design your very own kite. You will learn how and why objects fly from the science staff.

101 Dalmatians - East Islip. In London, dalmatian parents, Pongo and Perdita happily raise their dalmatian puppies, until the monstrous Cruella De Ville plots to steal them for her new fur coat!  Live performance. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.

Science Saturdays - Riverhead (Long Island Science Center). Play and explore over 30 hands-on exhibits and weekly themes. This week's theme is Exotic Animal Education. Participate in activities and crafts! 

Spring Eggstravaganza - Merrick. The Egg Hunt will begin at 11am sharp and will be followed by a Matzos Beach Ball Toss. Don't forget to bring your own basket to bring your goodies home.

The Mad Hatter Egg Hunt - Bridgehampton (CMEE). This egg hunt, sponsored by Dan's Papers, will be held both inside and outside of the museum. $10 per child.

Sayville Falls - Sayville. Join Sayville Falls Mini Golf for its first ever Easter Egg Hunt. The event will take place, rain or shine, on April 12. There are two time slots: 3pm-3:15pm for 0-2 years and 3:15pm-3:30pm for 3-5 years. The event not only includes a hunt; attendees will also be able to enjoy free mini golf, free activities and free goodie bags. Mini golf is free for children ages 12 and under.

Stotzky Park Egg Hunt - Riverhead. This free event will be hosted on the baseball fields of the park for the younger age groups and throughout the park for the oldest age group.

14th Annual Easter Egg Hunt - Huntington. Children can search for 1,500 multicolored plastic Easter eggs filled with candy and toys. After the hunt, kids will be treated to an appearance by the Easter Bunny, face painting, balloon creations, and temporary tattoos.

Egg Hunt & Storytime - Bridgehampton. Children under 8 years old are invited to participate in the annual egg hunt held on the beautiful lawn of Hampton Library in Bridgehampton. An "egg-stravagant " story will follow the egg hunt. Bring your own basket. This event is free.

Hampton Bays Easter Egg Hunt - Hampton Bays. This is a Charity Easter Egg Hunt. All proceeds to benefit a local family in need crafts, bake sale, egg hunt, face painting, Chinese auction and photos with a special guest.

Sunday, April 13

Family Seal Walk - Montauk. A State Park naturalist will lead visitors on a 2-3 hour leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. Please dress appropriately and wear comfortable footwear for hiking.

Egg Hunt at Wantagh Park - Wantagh. This free event is open to the public. The Wantagh Chamber of Commerce provides thousands of eggs, spread out around the park. 2-4 p.m.

Yogi Stars - Bellmore. Ages 4-7. Kid Stars classes are for yogis ages 4-7 years old with a little more experience separating from caregivers, and a strong curiosity about the world around them.

Family Sundays at the Museum - Roslyn. It offers a gallery tour, followed by hands-on art making, and guided by an art educator.
