Family-Friendly Events on the East End, Hamptons & North Fork, August 15-17

There's still plenty of time to enjoy summer in the Hamptons and North Fork. This weekend alone, you can enjoy everything from the 20th Annual Montauk Art Show to Riverhead's annual Polish Festival. We've come up with 9 must-attend events during the weekend of August 15-17.

All Weekend

20th Annual Montauk Art Show
Peruse artists works from oils, water colors, acrylics, pastels, graphics, mixed media and fine art jewelry at the 20th annual Montauk Art Show, which will be held the Depot Art Gallery and Art School, located at 742 Montauk Highway in Montauk from 10am to 6pm Friday through Sunday. Cost: Free

Polish Festival
Pulaski and Lincoln Streets in Polish Town, Riverhead, will be filled with over 250 vendors, crafters and exhibits. There will also be dance performances, a corn-husking contest and carnival rides. The festival opens on Saturday and Sunday at 10am and closes at 6pm. Cost: Free  

Friday, August 15

Shakespeare in the Park
Enjoy an evening of Shakespeare on Friday, August 15 from 7:30pm to 9:15pm at Agawam Park on Jobs Lane in Southampton. The production, Two Gentlemen of Verona, which is appropriate for children of all ages, is being put on by the Hip to Hip Theatre Company. Cost: Free

Family Movie Night
Enjoy a family movie night at the South Bay Bible Church, located at 578 Montauk Highway in East Moriches. The movie, Toy Story 3, will start at 8pm. Refreshments will also be served.  Cost: Free

Puppet Show
Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre, located at 4 Hampton Street in Sag Harbor, will present a Wild West Mystery puppet show from 11am to noon. The show, which is appropriate for children ages 2-6, will have your little ones, singing and dancing. Cost: $12 per ticket; $10 for grandparents; $8 for tots and additional siblings

Saturday, August 16

Artists & Writers Softball game
Watch as celebrity Artists battle each other in a game of softball for charity. The annual game will take place at Hericks Park, located on Newtown Lane in East Hampton.  Cost: $10 per person, children under 12 are free. 

Saturday Story Time
Children of all ages are invited to the Hampton Library, located at 2478 Main Street in Bridgehampton, for a Saturday morning story time and craft. The event will take place between 10am to 11am. Cost: Free

Watermelon Festival
Harbes Farm Family Farm, located on Sound Avenue in Mattituck, is holding a watermelon festival where kids can enjoy fresh watermelon, live music, local vendors, children's activities, singing and pony rides. There will also be a watermelon eating contest. The event will run from 10am to 6pm. Cost: Free admission

 

Sunday, August 17

Ellen's Run
The entire family is invited to run for charity at 9am at Southampton Hospital's Parrish Hall, located on Herrick Road. Your family can be among 1,000 runners in the 19th annual Ellen's Run, which raises money for the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital. Cost: $30 pre-registration; $40 day of the event; $25 for children.
