WeeWork Kids Craft: Recycled Sensory Shakers
![WeeWork Kids Craft: Recycled Sensory Shakers](https://static.mommypoppins.com/styles/image960x650/s3/sensory_shakers.jpg)
This week we decided to shake things up a bit. Listening to the different noises that all the different recycled materials make is an amazing sensory experience for preschoolers. Instead of tossing your recyclables, let your kids explore the different musical properties of tin cans and yogurt tubs! Add in some pots and pans and you'll have a band.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
1. Sort through your recycling for anything you think will make a fun noise! Anything works! Just make sure you remove all the loose bits and that there are no sharp edges.
2. Fill the containers with different kinds of beans, rice, or popcorn. We also used some jingle bells and pipe cleaners to jazz things up a bit.
3. Seal up your containers with staples, duct tape, or masking tape and let the shaking begin! You'll be amazed at how many different sounds your would-be-trash can make!
Try experimenting by comparing plastic tubs to tin cans. See what kind of noises you can get out of a paper towel tube or an empty oatmeal box! Older kids can use rubber bands and start their own string section with a cardboard box.
