Free Exercise Spots in NYC
Exercise. Something you know is good for you, but yet, so easy to avoid. And, when you have to pay through the nose for a gym or yoga class it can feel like adding insult to injury. But, no more excuses, here are some great free exercise opportunities all over the city, so - just do it! Bryant Park Free yoga and tai chi on Tuesday mornings and yoga on Thursday evenings. Make a whole day of it; bring your laptop and enjoy the free wireless before or after your downward dog!

Socrates Sculpture Park
Bring your kids and exercise together in this quirky park with amazing views, and if the kids get bored you can always wander off and check out the sculptures. Classes are on Saturday and Sunday mornings and include yoga, pilates, tai chi and capoeira. Plus, it's right next door to Costco if you need to stock up on toilet paper.
Little Bay Park
A Hatha yoga class in a peaceful outdoor setting overlooking the beautiful Long Island Sound. Classes meet on Saturday mornings in the Little Bay Park roller hockey rink, you have to admit that's a pretty novel place for a yoga class!
JCC Manhattan
The JCC in Manhattan offers classes like Krav Maga, Restorative Yoga, Theatre Jazz Dance and Classical Indian Dance to try out for absolutely nothing every Saturday night. Classes alternate in focus each month and are open to both members and non-members at all fitness levels. May's focus is Indian Classical Dance, June will be the Alexander Technique, and July will be African Dance.
Yoga To The People
While not technically free, this yoga studio operates with a suggested donation system, they suggest $10 for a class. Classes are held 7 days a week and their website includes their very cool motto, worth checking out.
Karma Kids Yoga
Move it with your kids at a free, fun Story Time Yoga from Karma Kids Yoga at their Chelsea location every Wednesday. Perfect for for infants through Preschoolers, this is a fun way to introduce kids to yoga and get a little exercise, for free!
