Toddler Art Activity: Bubble Wrap Prints
5/8/14

I follow the philosophy that you're never too young to make art. This fun toddler art project, contributed by the folks at Kids at Work, is great for even the youngest little artists and a fun sensory twist on traditional finger painting. And since it involves bubble wrap, even older kids will love it.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
1. Tape large, small, or both sized bubbles wrap in long strips if possible on a table or floor so there's no danger of slips. For younger children we recommend using the largest bubbles you can find, since their small hands and feet sometimes cannot pop the smaller bubbles.
2. Drip and pour some washable, non-toxic paint directly onto the bubble wrap for younger children and let them smash, spread, drip, and pour the paint onto the bubbles to their heart's content. Older children can paint directly from cups with sponges, Q-tips, cotton balls, combs, or try other interesting materials.
3. After your child has painted a bit, simply take a piece of paper and press it onto the bubbles, take it off and beautiful circle patterns appear. We've found some children are more into manipulating the paint on the bubbles, and some children get really into making a great many prints! 2's and 3's love that this is a bit challenging for them but so satisfying.
Tip: Some children may want to step on the bubbles again AFTER paint has been applied! This is super fun, but does require hand holding and an immediate bath post project.
If you want you can rinse the bubble wrap and reuse it.
