Top 10 Disney Pixar Movies: Kids Picks!

10. Ratatouille
Ratatouille is so good because it’s about a rat who wants to be a chef even though everyone said he couldn't. Remy is so brave to follow his dreams, and the food looks so delicious. It teaches you that you can do anything if you try hard.
9. A Bug’s Life
This movie shows how even the smallest character can be a hero. I love how funny A Bug’s Life is and how everyone works together to stand up to Hopper and the bad guys. It’s a really cool adventure and the fake bird at the end was so smart.
8. Turning Red
Red pandas are my favorite animal, so I obviously loved Turning Red. The friendship between Mei and her friends seemed very authentic to me and my mom cried so hard at the end when Mei and her mom came back together.
7. Finding Dory
Finding Dory is one of the best Pixar movies because Dory is so funny, even though she forgets everything! Baby Dory is so cute. She’s so kind and never gives up, and I think that’s inspiring. I also like how she charms everyone into becoming her friend, even the grumpy octopus. But it's not quite as beloved as:
6. Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is awesome because Marlin goes on an adventure to find his son. Dory is super funny, too. It shows that family is important, no matter what. And it shows how friends can become like family, too.

5. Inside Out
The emotions are funny in Inside Out and Riley seems like a real girl you might know in school. It's cool how they showed the memories when Joy and Sadness visited different parts of the brain. The abstract room was really cool when they became shapes. Bing Bong is such a fun character!
4. Coco
The dog in this movie is so funny, and I love how it shows a cultural celebration. Although it’s sad at the end of Coco, I did not cry. My mom did. (Editor's note: you'll see below this may be why Coco doesn't rank as high on parent's lists!)
3. Monsters, Inc.
Monsters Inc. is so great. Boo and Sully are such a cute pair. It shows that friendships can come in all shapes and sizes, and you should never give up on doing the right thing.
2. Incredibles 2
Jack-Jack is so funny in this movie! At the end, he pats his mom on the back, and it always makes us laugh because he looks just like a real baby. I liked that the super kids were the focus of the movie because Violet is so cool.

1. Toy Story 3
I love Toy Story 3 because it is the funniest of the Toy Story movies. The mean bear is such a funny character, and I love Barbie having such a big part. I do get a little scared at the end, but it all works out. It made both me and my mom cry.
And that's what the kids say. What do parents think?

10. Wall-E
While kids sometimes find Wall-E a bit too scary in its bleak portrayal of the future, parents love the cinematic look and the important environmental message it conveys. The idea of a world left behind by humans, with just one little robot working to make things better, is simultaneously sweet, sad, and uplifting.

9. Up
The opening sequence of Up is undeniably one of the most emotional in any Pixar movie. While parents love the themes of love, loss, and the importance of pursuing your dreams, it's too weepy to rank any higher on this list!
8. Coco
Parents agree that Coco is one of the most beautiful movies ever created. It’s such a heartwarming tribute to family. The music and the exploration of the Day of the Dead make it a poignant and important film.
7. Inside Out
The emotional depth of Inside Out really resonated with all the parents we polled. The exploration of emotions—especially sadness—is groundbreaking and profound. It’s a perfect movie for understanding the complexities of mental health, and a great segue into talking about feelings with your kids. But as for being a favorite, again, the tear factor kept it out of the top 5.
6. Finding Nemo
Parents love Finding Nemo almost as much as kids do. Marlin’s determination to find his son and the supportive relationship with Dory make this a classic tale about resilience and the lengths a parent will go for their child. We feel seen!
Toy Story is the one that started it all. Image courtesy of Pixar/Walt Disney Pictures
5. Toy Story
The original Toy Story is where it all began, and since most parents of young kids were kids ourselves when the movie came out, this one seems to resonate more strongly with parents than with kids.
4. Ratatouille
This movie’s message about following your dreams, even when the world says you’re not cut out for it, packs a powerful punch for parents. Plus, this makes the list for the scene when Remy comes out of the sewer and realizes he is in Paris. Don't we all want to emerge from a sewer into Paris? It's kind of a great metaphor for a lot of parenting moments...
3. The Incredibles (tied) Incredibles 2
The chic, retro style of The Incredibles is a huge favorite with parents. The movie explores the importance of family, the struggles of keeping a secret identity, and how superheroes can be relatable and real. It's cheating, but we had to have both Incredibles movies tied here, because the original is a classic, and the "Math is math" scene in Incredibles 2 may be the single most relatable parenting moment in any cartoon, ever.
2. Monsters, Inc.
Monsters Inc. earns its place on the list because it's hilarious for both kids and parents, and there's nothing parents love more than watching their kids laugh. Boo is such an adorable character, and the digs at corporate greed and corruption in a hilarious kid’s movie are pretty great. Also, parents love this one because like Johnson's Baby Shampoo, there are no more tears!
1. Toy Story 2
Though it was close, Toy Story 2 was the ultimate pick as parents' favorite. The story of Woody being stolen, and the introduction of Jessie and Bullseye make this sequel stand out. The music, the friendship, the adventure!

So...What's the Perfect Pixar Pick for Family Movie Night?
Monster's Inc. Top three for parents and kids alike, nothing scary before bedtime, nothing to make parents weep. Just a funny, sweet, touching movie that the whole family will enjoy. Next up, we definitely recommend an Incredibles double feature. Happy viewing!
