1. The Escape Game Atlanta – The Battery and West Midtown

$39.99 per person, free for kids ages 4 and under - shared experience
Use your puzzle-solving skills to break out of a 1950s prison, find hidden gold in an old cabin, explore an underwater science lab, and more room themes. Most games are best for ages 13 and up, but families may find The Playground suitable for younger kids and beginners. Adults must participate with kids under age 14. Reservations recommended.

2. Amazing Escape – Norcross

$34 per person - shared experience
Best for kids ages 14 and up, the four games at Amazing Escape last 45 minutes for a challenging race against the clock. Themes include Cabin,Virus, Vegas, and Prison. Participants under the age of 18 must bring a signed waiver completed by a parent or guardian. Reservations recommended.

3. Beat the Bomb – West Midtown

Starting at $44.99 per person - private experience
At Beat the Bomb, participants wear hazmat suits and must solve video and other challenges; otherwise, guests get "bombed" with paint or foam. A guardian must participate with kids under age 10 and remain on the premises with kids ages 10-15. The Bomb Bar offers food and beverages. Reservations required.

4. Big Escape Rooms Atlanta – Downtown and Old Fourth Ward

$20-$33 per person - shared experience; $110-$336 - private experience
With two locations, Big Escape Rooms offers six games with themes including the Atlanta Hawks locker room and a haunted mansion. While there’s no minimum age to participate, an adult must accompany anyone ages 13 and under. If you have a group with kids ages 8 and under, book a private room. Reservations required.

5. Breakout Games – Buckhead

$24.99-$44.99 per person (depending on the number of players) - private experience
Embark on an adventure with themes including Mystery Mansion, Museum Heist, and Clue: The Escape Room. Your group determines the difficulty level of the game by the number of hints you accept. A parent or guardian must accompany kids ages 14 and under. Reservations required.

6. Escape the Netherworld - Stone Mountain

$28 per person (4 person minimum) - private group
For a spine-chilling experience, head to this escape room created by the people behind Netherworld Haunted House. Advanced players will love Alien Terror: Doom of the Dark Horizon (complete with fog!) while beginners may prefer Sasquatch: Bigfoot's Revenge. Netherworld doesn't recommend the games for children under age 8 and requires adult participation for anyone under age 16. Reservations required. 7. Escape Woods – Powder Springs

$28-$33 per person (4 person minimum) - shared experience; $262-$309 - private experience
Escape Woods provides an immersive indoor/outdoor game on a 60-acre farm. Fans of Stranger Things enjoy Hopper’s Cabin (ages 10 and up), which takes place inside the actual cabin from the television series. Other experiences include Renaissance Ruins: Curse at the Faire (ages 10+), The Legend of Sleepy Hollow 1990 (ages 13 and up), and more. Reservations required.

8. Keystone Escape Rooms – Cumming

$28 per person (minimum 3 players) - private experience
All Keystone Escape Rooms are appropriate for ages 3 and up! Themes include searching for a lost civilization, helping Sherlock Holmes, and deciphering a secret message from Abraham Lincoln. An adult must accompany kids 14 and younger. Because all rooms are private, you must purchase at least three spots. Reservations required Monday through Thursday; walk-ins welcome Friday through Sunday.

9. Mastermind Escape Games - Sandy Springs

$31.99 per person (minimum 2 players), free for children ages 5 and under - private experience
Themes include discovering the cure for a global virus, traveling in a time machine, escaping a shipwreck, and more. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent. Check the website for weekday specials and group discounts. Reservations required.

10. Odyssey Escape Game - Alpharetta

If you have kids who love a fast-paced challenge, head over to this Alpharetta escape room. Catch Jack the Ripper before he escapes, evacuate people from the Towering Inferno, and find a lifeboat to get off the Titanic before it sinks! All ages welcome to participate, but adults must chaperone ages 12 and under. 11. PanIQ Room Atlanta – Midtown

$33 per person - shared experience; $38-$55 per person - private experience
Families with kids ages 8 and up can choose two, family-friendly experiences: Red Wire and Wizard Trials. Those with kids ages 12 and older can book Medieval Madness, but the room’s creepy factor isn’t for the faint of heart. For all experiences, an adult must accompany kids ages 8-12. Reservations required.

12. Project Escape Atlanta – Marietta

$29-$34 per person (minimum 3 players) - private experience
Choose from three 60-minute games, which include rescuing the planet, searching for treasure, or deactivating a bomb. Advanced players may opt for the 75-minute games. Project Escape’s minimum age is 7, and one adult must accompany kids ages 15 and younger (two adults required for the game room Nautilus). Reservations required.

13. Time to Escape – Brookhaven and Downtown

$26 to $35 depending on day and time (age 4 and under free) - shared experience; check site for private experience costs
Try out one of these eight escape adventures appropriate for the entire family! Beginners and families with younger kids will enjoy the shorter (45-minute) Saving Christmas experience, while older kids love Al Capone’s Speakeasy and The Grand Zepplin. The Brookhaven location offers the Escape Bar, where adults can purchase alcoholic beverages. Adults must stay near the premises for kids ages 13-15 and accompany kids ages 12 and under in the room. Reservations recommended.

14. Ultimate Escape Game Atlanta – Cumberland

Tiered pricing starts at $35.99 per person (decreases with added players) - shared experience; $185-$290 - private experience
Ultimate Escape Game Atlanta offers five escape room experiences. Most games are recommended for those ages 8 and up; however, the spine-chilling Amnesia game is suited for kids ages 14 who don’t frighten easily. An adult must stay on the premises for kids ages 15-18 and accompany kids ages 14 and under. Reservations recommended.

Atlanta Escape Rooms: Know Before You Go

• Contrary to the name, you are not locked in an escape room. An employee is watching you on a camera and will let you out for a restroom break or any other reason. Just remember the game clock won’t stop when you leave the room.
• The game master is there to give you hints, the amount of which varies per game. Don’t be afraid to ask for help so you don’t lose valuable time!
• You might not escape the room. Make sure kids know that it’s all about having fun so they’re not too disappointed.
• Most escape rooms require signed waivers for minors. Make sure you know if an adult is required to participate in the game with younger children so you can book your spot.  
• The rooms have a maximum capacity that is strictly enforced (even for small children).
• Check the difficulty level and thematic content of the escape room before you book.
• Plan to arrive a few minutes early as games begin on time. Arriving late may cause forfeiture of the game and most tickets are non-refundable.
