Win a $300 Shopping Spree at Coco-Mat: An Eco-friendly Home Furnishings Store with a Cool Kids' Line
When you walk into Coco-Mat—an eco-friendly mattress and home furnishings store that opened in Soho earlier this year—you may think you mistakenly entered a ground floor loft apartment. The whitewashed sun-filled space has a cozy sitting area, a child’s bedroom, a private sleeping suite, a kids', art station with a blackboard wall, and even an open-plan kitchen where staff prepares snacks for guests, like figs sprinkled with minced oregano, Greek salads and freshly squeezed juice. Cash registers are noticeably absent, adding to the friendly apartment vibe. This low-key sales approach is an integral part of Coco-Mat's philosophy of building community and making customers, particularly families, feel welcome.
Founded in Greece, Coco-Mat manufactures mattresses, furniture and linens that are all-natural, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and handcrafted. The company's not a newcomer to the eco-friendly scene: It has been doing business this way for the past 24 years. Although Coco-Mat has 60 stores in 11 counties, the NYC shop at 49 Mercer Street is its first stand-alone U.S. store, and inside is a brand-new mini-boutique dedicated to the company's popular children's line, which includes crib mattresses, kids' beds, desks, bookcases, pillows and curtains.
In honor of this new kids' mini-shop, Coco-Mat is giving away a $300 shopping spree to one lucky Mommy Poppins reader, plus a pair of $100 gift cards to two runner-ups. Read on to learn more about Coco-Mat's products and for details about how to enter the giveaway.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
I wish Coco-Mat's Skiouros Crib Mattress ($490) had been available in the U.S. when I was designing my son’s nursery. Skiourous, which means "little squirrel" in Greek, is made of layers of soft natural rubber and supportive rubberized coconut fiber (no springs!) with a removable quilted cotton and wool mattress cover.
Since I am in the early stages of shopping for a bunk bed for my seven-year-old, I made a beeline to the Myrtis (starts at $3,100), a solid wood bunk with colorful canvas straps stretched along the frame for hanging artwork or storing books. The Myrtis is available as a loft bed too, and there are matching desks and bookcases.
There are lots of other cool products. I particularly liked the Sithon ($20), a goose down-filled mini pillow for kids transitioning from a crib to a big bed and the Kolokythi ($200-$320), a pouf available in two sizes, perfect for living rooms or play areas. And you can try out most of the items, even the mattresses, in a private sleeping suite. Just don't fall asleep!
One lucky Mommy Poppins reader will win a $300 shopping spree at Coco-Mat, complete with a personal shopper. Two runner-ups will snag $100 to spend at the Soho store. To enter the Coco-Mat giveaway, please fill out the form below. There are several ways to enter, each giving you more chances to win these great prizes. The winners will be picked at random and announced on our Facebook page next week.
