We've rounded up some big FREE events happening this Friday night for you. Outdoor movies can be seen at Jennings Beach and at the New Haven Green. MegaMind and Men in Black are playing respectively. Philly LoPresti and the Clark Eno Orchestra are playing during the Danbury Weekend Summer Concert Series and all weekend long you can catch some free Shakespeare, The Comedy of Errors, at The Green at Stamford’s Sterling Farms Golf Course.

On Saturday, build a faerie house during the Flanders Nature Center Woodbury Faerie Festival.  For the reptile lovers out there check out Sherwood Island State Park's Nature Center for a reptile outing. Kids under 18 are free at Music Mountain in Falls Village. This Saturday night they host Flux String Quartet. Take the kids to the drive-in in Southington to see one of my favorites, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. In Shelton they are showing Yogi Bear for free at River Walk - Veteran's Park on Canal Street.

In Watertown this weekend check out the adorable baby alpacas and beautiful blooming daylilies at the annual Daylily Alpaca Fest at Southwind Farms. Would your child love to meet a real Native American? Then make sure you attend the Institute for American Indian Studies to observe the Living Traditions of Indian New England. They will be on hand to demonstrate traditional activities and answer questions. Canaan Railroad Days finishes up this weekend with fireworks on Saturday night and a road race on Sunday.

ALL WEEKEND

20th Anniversary of the Greater Hartford Jazz Festival with activities for the entire family.

Bring a blanket and a picnic and introduce the younger members of your family to the great works of Shakespeare. Comedy of Errors at the New Haven Green.

Live music, activities, demonstrations, 50 craft vendors, contests and more will be featured at the 32nd Annual Summer Festival & Sidewalk Sale

Canaan Railroad Days finishes up this weekend with the Firemen's parade, carnival, arts and crafts, road race and fireworks.

Enjoy the beautiful daylilies while you visit the alpacas and new babies during the Daylily Alpaca Fest.

Observe the Living Traditions of Indian New England at the Institute for American Indian Studies.

FRIDAY

Sand Jam & Family Movie Nights at Jenning Beach: DJ, Marvin Parsons will get you and the kids up dancing at the Sand Jam Family Fun Dance!  that begins at 6:30 PM. Following the dance enjoy MegaMind on the silver screen. Pack a beach chair, blanket & some munchies and you're ready for a great family movie!


Game Show Night at Kent Memorial Library for grades 5 and up.

Smores and Dancing at the Friday Family Campfire - Drum Circles at Earthplace in Westport.

See Men in Black during FREE Friday Flicks on the New Haven Green.

SATURDAY

Gnome bowling, storytelling and hay rides are just some of the fun things you will find at the Flanders Nature Center Woodbury Faerie Festival.

The ZooMobile Hits the Beach! Reptiles! at Sherwood Island State Park's Nature Center.

Summerfest 2011 in Ridgefield, over 100 vendors, live music and entertainment.

Music Mountain hosts Flux String Quartet.

See Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at Southington Drive-In Saturday Nights.

SUNDAY

Fun Sundays at the Litchfield Historical Society Museum.

Take Part in Art at Weir Farm with plein air painting and sketching.


Make a Painting Sundays at the Florence Griswold Museum.
