It's no secret parenting through a pandemic can be many things: maddening, endearing, frustrating, creative, crazy...we could keep going. But, as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, and the Dumbo Improvement District is counting on NYC parents to supply it with photos to fuel a new public art display in their honor.

At-Home Heroes: An Homage to Parenting Through a Pandemic runs from Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9, through Father's Day, Sunday, June 20, and you can submit your memorable parenting moments now. Chosen photos will be projected in 65-foot-by-40-foot glory on the Manhattan Bridge nightly from dusk to 10pm. Public viewing takes place from the Pearl Street Triangle.

So, start scrolling through your photostream, whether it's filled with silver linings, family resolutions, or something far messier.

The submission window closes on Monday, April 2. To submit a photo for consideration, you must be a resident of the five boroughs. Parents, step-parents, grandparents, guardians, nannies, and anyone else who's cared for a child during the pandemic are invited to share their memorable pandemic parenting moments.

“We’re doing this to honor the extraordinary efforts of those raising human beings through a pandemic," said Alexandria Sica, Dumbo Improvement District president. "If you’ve been home with a kiddo for 12 months, you know that your living room is your own kind of front line these days. We salute you! We look forward to receiving your photos!”

All submissions must have been taken between March 2020 and March 2021, and you have to indicate your home neighborhood on your submission. One key requirement: Dumbo is looking for you—all photos must include the caregiver in the image, children are optional in the shots. All entrants will be notified of status by Friday, April 30.

The installation is presented in conjunction with Photoville.
