It's the final lap of summer—August in NYC—a month where true city families often feel like they have the whole place to themselves. Who needs the Hamptons when we have our very own Pixar-themed mini golf, Summer Streets, Sunset Concerts on the Hudson, and tons more FREE outdoor movies?

If you're feeling festive, the Hong Kong Boat Fest is back, along with the always lovely Hindu Lamp Ceremony, the Battery Dance Fest, and Puppet Fringe, to name just a few of the fun things to do in NYC this August. Kids can make paper with Dieu Donne, snag a FREE comic book, sprint through some sprinklers at Asphalt Green, and more.

Our Activity Calendar and Summer Fun Guide are the perfect escorts for family fun in the five boroughs, and our list of 100 FREE summer to-do's extends through the first day of school, too.

As always, if an event piques your interest, click through to our listing for all the details, including addresses and times. And keep in mind: Really cool things to do with kids often book up quickly, so register or buy your tickets ASAP.
