Young fans of the beloved show Sesame Street can now step into the iconic neighborhood thanks to Sesame Street Learn and Play, a brand new educational play space just opened at American Dream Mall.

Little ones can immerse themselves in the world of Sesame Street—and all its famed, furry and feathered characters—thanks to this first-of-its kind play space, which is destined for a spot on our list of the best Northern New Jersey play spaces.

What is Sesame Street Learn and Play?

Sesame Street Learn and Play is an educational play center where kids are encouraged to "learn through play." Hands-on experiences abound on the iconic Sesame Street set, which has been re-created for romping. In addition to seeing television scenes come to life, little ones can meet their favorite characters.

Varied sections offer a variety of ways to engage with the characters and Sesame Street storylines. Venture into Elmo's World, to learn about rainforests and design animals. In Hooper's Store, kids can go grocery shopping and check out at the register. Other highlights include a Community Center filled with arts and crafts supplies, Abby Cadabby's Garden, the Bike Shop, and the 123 Stoop, where you can snap a photo with Oscar's trash can.

Kids of all ages can explore the Sesame Street Playground.

Kids can climb, crawl, and slide in the Sesame Street Playground, which includes a designated play area for toddlers. At the Sunny Day Theater, there's an interactive media experience with various Sesame Street characters.

If your little one is excited for Elmo or goes berserk for Big Bird, take note: The play space offers private rooms ready to host your kid's next birthday party.

  • While anyone can visit Sesame Street Learn and Play, it's most fun for kids 8 and under.
  • Sesame Street Learn and Play is open daily.
  • Tickets start at $25 and should be purchased online in advance.
  • Save money by purchasing combo tickets to visit other American Dream Mall attractions, like Nickelodeon Universe, while you're there.
