What better way to enjoy the holiday season than checking out some of most over-the-top home light displays on Long Island with the kids? From flying reindeer to inflatable Santas, holiday cheer is aglow in both Nassau and Suffolk County.
We've crowdsourced from readers, friends, and staff to find the Long Island houses that shine the brightest. So pile into the car, pack a few festive snacks, and set out for a FREE DIY tour of the best of LI.
And if you just can't get enough lights, check out our article on more formal Holiday Light Displays on Long Island, such as the Bayville Winter Wonderland, as well as our Long Island Holiday Fun Guide for more seasonal activities.
Note: The homes listed below are private homes, and while most welcome the sightseers, we do ask that you be respectful of their property by not touching any of the displays and staying off the lawns. Also be mindful of the noise level of your group. Bring some small change with you and single dollar bills as a few of the homes are asking for donations for charities.
Most homes turn on the lights by Thanksgiving (or earlier) and run each evening, roughly 5pm to 11pm, through New Year's Eve. Some of the owners even host special kick-off events, or Santa evenings. Click through to the links for more information.
