Long Island Kids' Activities March 3 and 4: Purim Celebrations, Read Across America, and Imaginocean

Lots going on this weekend! MPLI fave Long Island Children's Museum is offering many quality programs and shows, including a Read Across America Celebration; a couple of Long Island JCCs are hosting Purim celebrations; and Imaginocean is playing at the Staller Center. Enjoy!

Clown Camp with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus

LICM is excited to welcome members of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus for an exclusive Clown Camp, which will culminate with you and your fellow campers performing at Nassau Coliseum on Friday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. during the All-Access Preshow!
Classes will last one hour and will be held in the LICM Theater. Children must attend both classes to participate in the performance at Nassau Coliseum. To register call (516) 224-5845. Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.

The Okee Dokee Brothers

Inspired by their own backyard adventures, The Okee Dokee Brothers perform original bluegrass and rock music that reminds audiences of their own make-believe adventures. The Okee Dokee Brothers believe that music should be an energetic, interactive, and fun experience where kids can enjoy dancing, singing, and playing instruments with their families. Shows at 1 and 3pm.

Ancient Artifacts

Archaeologists use their knowledge of science and history to study ancient peoples. In Central America, a city called Cuello was one of the earliest discoveries of Maya life dating as far back as the year 2500 B.C. Learn about the archaeological process as you go on a simulated dig, collect data and piece together a Maya “artifact.”

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a day devoted to reading! Design your own Dr. Seuss hat and have fun with other Dr. Seuss–inspired activities. Meet Curious George and then use your imagination to illustrate and write an adventure story. Meet Max the Bunny and create a reading chart to use at home. Enjoy hearing a story with your favorite character.

A glow-in-the-dark musical and undersea adventure about three best friends: Tank, Bubbles and Dorsel. John Tartaglia, the creator of ImaginOcean, is a puppeteer in Avenue Q and in many Elmo’s World videos.
