Long Island Kids' Activities June 2 and 3: Strawberry Festivals, Fairs, Blues Clues, and Summer Celebration

Happy June! There are lots of festivals and fairs around the island this weekend to keep you busy, including a strawberry festival in Bellmore, a Nature and Craft Fair at Sweetbriar Nature Center, and the Brookhaven Fair in Farmingville continues. Plus Long Island Children's Museum is putting on a Blue's Clues production and having a summer celebration in its outdoor space, "Our Backyard."

Nature and Craft Fair

Come and enjoy a fun-filled and exciting day at Sweetbriar Nature Center’s Annual Nature and Wildlife Festival. Visitors can enjoy live animal demonstrations: Meet a live arctic wolf! See an enormous alligator from Erik’s Reptile Edventures! Witness Brian Bradley flying his birds of prey. You can also take a walk through Sweetbriar’s beautiful butterfly house filled with more than 250 butterflies ($3). There will also be environmental displays, craft vendors, bird walks, a plant sale, face painting, music, entertainment, and so much more!

Plaza Theatrical Productions presents Blue’s Clues: The Most Spectacular Place

Join Blue and Steve on an interactive musical adventure based on the popular Nickelodeon television series Blue's Clues. On stage, Blue and Steve lead the audience on a clue-based journey, in search of the most spectacular place of all, taking them through Storybook Forest, where Blue and Steve meet the Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks, the Big Bad Wolf, and other characters from classic fairy tales. Then travel to outer space, discovering planets and other celestial wonders along the way. When they discover the final clue, Blue and Steve learn that aside from the surprise-filled world of theater, home is the most spectacular place of all! To purchase tickets please call Plaza Theatrical Productions at 516-599-6870. Families can expect amusement rides and attractions as well as shows including “The Lance Gifford Magic & Illusion Show”, “The Great American Frontier Show”, “Wild Wolves Show,” and a “Dog and Pony Show”  at Long Island’s biggest fair. Welcome back the summer season as you explore the flowers and plants—and sometimes, animals!—in our popular “Our Backyard” exhibit. Come listen to a relaxing soundtrack as we create lovely rock paintings inspired by nature. In case of rain, the program will be moved indoors.
