Weekday Event Picks for LA Kids: Pajama Time, King Arthur, & Star Gazing, January 12-16
I know it sounds a bit bizarre, but in Camelot, that’s how conditions are. As the rest of the country braces for winter storms, our little Angelenos are ice skating on the beach and continue to enjoy plenty of outdoor fun at places like the South Coast Botanical Gardens.
Still. It is winter, and that’s a good time to snuggle up in your jammies at the Torrance Library’s Pajama-Rama. In Thousand Oaks, Theater League presents Lerner and Lowe’s Camelot. This is a great way to introduce girls and boys to the joys of musical theater.
Read on for our weekday picks this week, which are just a sample of what's on our full calendar.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
1. Pajama-Rama – Monday
Jamma, Jamma, Jamma, Jamma, PJs! The Walteria library in Torrance hosts an evening story time where kids and their caregivers are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring a blankie. Meanwhile in Pasadena, kids are snuggling up with and reading to real live dogs.
2. Critters and Kids: Chimps – Tuesday
This workshop class at the LA Zoo for children and their caregivers includes stories, games, activities, and of course a visit with the animal residents.
3. South Coast Botanic Garden – Wednesday
Admission free this Wednesday at an Open House geared toward kids, in honor of a planned children’s garden within the grounds. Refreshments and kid friendly activities are available.
4. Camelot – Thursday
Thousand Oaks’ Civic Arts Plaza premieres this Theatre League production of the Lerner and Lowe’s classic musical about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
5. The Night Sky Show – Friday
This weekly event at Santa Monica College’s planetarium begins with a 50 minute indoor presentation and then moves outside at 8pm for a telescopic exploration of “star birth in Orion’s sword.” Not for very young children or those inclined to restlessness.
There are always plenty more activities on our daily events calendar and in our monthly GoList. And if you don't receive our newsletters full of suggestions for family fun, you really should subscribe!
