Things to Do in Brookhaven Over the Holidays

The holidays are just around the corner. What better way to get your kids into the spirit of the season than by bringing them to enjoy some fun-filled and activities? The town of Brookhaven will host several family-friendly holiday-themed activities for you to enjoy! From tree lightings to parades, these holiday activities are guaranteed to spread holiday cheer.

Christmas Holiday Boat Parade on the Patchogue River
Sunday, November 24th, 4pm
Patchogue will hold its 20th annual Christmas Holiday Parade of Boats, a free event taking place along the Patchogue River, with viewing points at Sandspit Park – Davis Park Ferry Terminal, Brightwood Street and the Fire Island National SeaShore Watch Hill Terminal on West Avenue. Santa will arrive on the last boat of the parade. This year, the theme is "A Country Christmas."

Visit Santa at the Longwood Estate 
December 7th, 11am-2pm
Instead of going to the mall this year to visit Santa, take your kids on a trip back in time to meet the Jolly Old Elf at the Longwood Estate. Santa will visit this historic 1800s manor, where kids can share their Christmas lists with the Big Guy, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate, create a holiday craft, visit with other holiday characters and check out an interactive train display. Make sure to bring along your camera and a self-addressed stamped envelope so that Santa can send your children a letter. Cost is $2 per child under 12.

Yaphank Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting
December 7th, 3pm (parade starts at 4:30pm)
Bring the whole family to enjoy an evening packed with Christmas fun when the Yaphank Fire Department hosts its annual Christmas parade and tree lighting. The event kicks off with a craft fair that will be held inside the firehouse. At 4:30pm, a parade of lighted floats and costumed characters will take place along Main Street. Immediately following the parade, Santa will light the Christmas tree and lead the crowd in a chorus of carols. 

Center Moriches Holiday Parade of Lights 
December 14th, 6pm
Grab a spot along Montauk Highway/Main Street. Dozens of illuminated floats, fire departments, schools and local businesses will parade down Lake Avenue and Montauk Highway, tossing out candy and beads to spectators. Santa will arrive at the end of the parade on the back of a Center Moriches Fire Department tower ladder.

There will be no shortage of holiday spirit in the town of Brookhaven this year. Get your family into the spirit of the season by attending one–or all–of these fantastic holiday events.
