Support The New York Foundling at a Special Shopping Event in May

4/28/15 - By Jody Mercier

We love finding cool ways to give back, especially when kids can get involved. It's even better when it supports an amazing organization that helps the most vulnerable New Yorkers, children. That's why we're partnering with The New York Foundling's petiteSHOP—a unique shopping experience along with family-friendly activities and experiences—to help raise money to support the important work The New York Foundling does.

For three weekends in May, you can drop by The Foundling Children's Charity Pop-up to find cool designer duds, toys, decor and more at a variety of price points, and participate in workshops and activities, including a free family photo shoot with celebrity and fashion photographer Lee Clower. It will be fun, and you can all go home knowing you did some good, too.

One of the city's oldest charities, The New York Foundling is devoted to strengthening families by operating a variety of programs throughout the five boroughs, and has even established a head-start program in Puerto Rico. From its Healthy Families New York program, which provides education from prenatal stages through childbirth and beyond, to its comprehensive foster care and adoption programs, giving children a healthy start is at the heart of The Foundling's mission.

New Yorkers can show their support for The Foundling by visiting petiteSHOP at The Foundling: A Children’s Charity Pop-up, which is a part of National Foster Care month. In collaboration with petitePARADE, the founder of Kids' Fashion Week, the shop features apparel, jewelry and accessories from top designers, children's toys, home decor and more—at a variety of price points. And ten percent of all sales supports The Foundling's mission.

Some of the designers featured at the shop include Alivia Simone, Charm, Dimity Bourke, Elements by Nina, IMOGA, Jess Brown Dolls, Kallio NYC, Melissa Shoes, Nina Shoes, RUUM American Kids’ Wear, Home Grown Books and more. The event also has different family-friendly workshops and activities (to keep the kids occupied while you shop!), plus that free photo shoot with Lee Clower.

Hosted in The Foundling’s West Village location at 27 Christopher Street, the shop was designed and outfitted by the experiential design firm ZZ Driggs, with special decor provided by Room & Board to create a relaxing lounge for shoppers. Visual artist The Love Child has painted a whimsical mural that greets guests upon entering the pop-up, and specially-designed tote bags have been created for shoppers, provided by ShopKeep, the event’s sale system.

petiteSHOP is open Thursday, May 1-Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 11am to 7pm. For a full list of activities and designers—as well as more on The Foundling's mission—be sure to visit its website.
