Rhythmic Gymnastics Classes for NJ Kids
A new sport is gaining momentum in the United States. Rhythmic Gymnastics is the number one sport for girls in Europe, and now it's making its way through New Jersey! According to Liliya Downs of Randolph's Freedom Academy, Rhythmic Gymnastics is "a very elegant and graceful Olympic Sport that combines the art of ballet and gymnastics, and moves from various dances such as classic and modern." What makes this discipline unique is that when performing a Rhythmic Gymnastics routine, the gymnast is also holding an apparatus such as a rope, hoop, ball or ribbon. We've rounded up places in NJ that offer Rhythmic Gymnastics classes for kids:

Freedom Academy: Rhythmic Gymnastics (Randolph)
Freedom Academy offers Rhythmic Gymnastics classes for girls ages 4 to twelve. The staff loves to work with kids and their program was created to maximize the technical and artistry growth while considering the individuality of each participant. Certified coaches will help transform your daughter into a high-level athlete, and in group sessions, students also receive customized training to fit their needs and skill set. The staff speaks English, Ukrainian and Russian, and their mission is to provide the best quality training for girls--and fun!--for those who desire to be healthy and fit, with a minimal risk of injury. Additionally, Freedom Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy provides scholarships for existing students in level 4 and up.
Liberty Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics (Fairfield)
Coach Nataliya (Natasha) Greenberg of this studio says Rhythmic Gymnastics is a young sport in USA, but is becoming more popular, globally, which "brings this sport to next level. It's very popular for girls who's parents are from Europe and helps kids develop great coordination skills, flexibility and musicality, while learning dance and ballet and working with 5 different items." Private, Beginner, and advanced classes are available, as well as summer sessions.
Middlesex Gymnastics Academy (East Brunswick)
At this venue, Rhythmic gymnastics classes are conducted weekday afternoons and evenings and on Saturday mornings. This beautiful and elegant Olympic sport is for girls ages 5-up who love tumbling, music and dance. Fun fact: This academy was recently recognized by the National Federation (USAG), as NJ's top school for compulsory girls gymnastics and is the only school in NJ to have State champions in all of the USAG disciplines: girls gymnastics, boys gymnastics, trampoline and rhythmic gymnastics.
And since this sport is growing in popularity, if you need any accessories, visit Hackensack's RhythmicGymnastics.com for hoop covers, sparkle ribbons, and more.
