Celebrate Mother's Day in style this year with an indulgent family brunch prepared by someone other than mom. Restaurants throughout Northern New Jersey are cooking up some fabulous luncheons full of breakfast delights, salads, carving stations, and desserts. Some of these eateries offer discounts for children, and others are FREE for young kids. Holiday brunches book up quickly though, and many require reservations.
If you're down the shore, explore these wonderful Mother's Day options.
Alstede Farms – Chester
Enjoy a brunch buffet with a side of springtime fun at Alstede Farm’s Mother’s Day celebration. Take a scenic hayride to Harvest Hall for delicious eats that include eggs, French toast, homemade scones, and a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dessert options. The kids can burn some post-brunch energy at the farm’s moon bounce, train ride, pony rides, and corn kingdom for an additional fee.
Bibi’z Restaurant & Lounge – Westwood
Voted Best of Bergen several years in a row, this lively local favorite serves up a special Mother’s Day version of its popular brunch buffet. Start off the meal with fresh baked goods, then load up on appetizers, salads, hot breakfast and lunch dishes, a raw bar with oysters and clams, and carving and pasta station delicacies. It's hard to imagine room for dessert, but you won't want to pass up sweets like chocolate-dipped pretzels, flourless chocolate velvet fudge, and fresh berries.
Grillestone – Scotch Plains
Known for its ample brunch buffet selections, Grillestone offers a Mother’s Day brunch that will not disappoint. Grab your complimentary mimosa and choose from meats like prime rib, roasted turkey, and ham at the carving station, or stop by the omelet or pasta station to have something made to order. Seafood delights include crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp, and sushi, and of course there's plenty of traditional breakfast fare. Don't forget to save room for dessert.
Ivy Inn – Hasbrouck Heights
If you’re looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of a buffet, bring the family to this historic inn for delicious brunch fare in a cozy, quiet atmosphere. The sit-down Mother’s Day brunch boasts a great selection of drinks and appetizers, as well as entrees that include a smoked salmon, asparagus and goat cheese omelet; grilled rib eye steak with scrambled eggs; and Maryland crab cake eggs benedict. A special children’s menu offers traditional French toast, scrambled eggs, chicken fingers, and sliders, topped off with ice cream sundaes.

The sweeping views from the patio make Liberty House a favorite.
Liberty House – Jersey City
Classics like deviled eggs and calamari get seasonal updates at Liberty House, and the Hudson River view is breathtaking. Chicken lollipops and waffle-battered berries are standouts on the brunch menu, along with omelets, quiche, and crepes. Eggs Chesapeake—a poached egg, Maryland crab cake, and spiced hollandaise—is a favorite.
Enjoy a jazz brunch at Madison Bar and Grill.
Madison Bar and Grill – Hoboken
The jazz brunch at Madison includes a mimosa or bloody Mary, along with an array of oysters, chilled shrimp, eggs benedict, and my favorite: creme brulee french toast. Breakfast burritos, bagels, and veggies round out the menu, along with a chocolate fondue fountain with plenty of fruit for dipping. A la carte menu selections are also available for an additional fee.
The Manor – West Orange
Enjoy a luxurious brunch at The Manor, where an extensive buffet is presented in an elegant atmosphere. Choose hot breakfast staples like French toast, waffles, croissants, sausage, and home fried potatoes, or create omelets and crepes to your liking at the omelet and crepe stations. Non-breakfast delights, such as chilled shrimp on oysters, leg of lamb, and a carving station, are also available. Children can add chicken fingers and fries to their meal. Juice, tea, and coffee are included.

Perona Farms – Andover
Crepes, seafood, and made-to-order Belgian waffles are highlights at Perona's brunch buffet. Homemade pizza and donuts, a pasta bar, and an ice sculpture adorned with fresh fruit and yogurt are other favorites. A variety of soups, salads, and hot dishes are available, along with an ice cream sundae bar the kids will love. Reservations are required for Mother's Day, and a special dinner buffet is also available.
Snuffy’s Pantagis Renaissance – Scotch Plains
Snuffy’s is my family’s special-occasion brunch spot. This family-friendly catering hall boasts a buffet full of yummy brunch foods, with breakfast selections like eggs, pancakes, and bacon, and chaffing dishes with roasted duck, sausage, and pepper-and-sesame chicken. Sample shrimp cocktail and clams on the half-shell at the raw bar, or get a slice of prime rib or lamb at the carving station. Bring the meal to a sweet finish with a visit to the ample Viennese pastry table.
Stagehouse Tavern – Somerset
Mom won’t go hungry at this fun pub, known for its large brunch portions. The Mother’s Day buffet features baked goods, salads, soups, an omelet station, carving station, and endless hot foods such as eggs, French toast, pancakes, pork loin, tilapia, short ribs, and much more. On a nice day, patrons can relax and dine outdoors on the patio.
