Family-Friendly Mother's Day Brunch Spots in Northern NJ

Celebrate Mother's Day in style this year with an indulgent family brunch prepared by someone other than mom. Restaurants throughout Northern New Jersey are cooking up some fabulous luncheons full of breakfast delights, salads, carving stations, and desserts. Some of these eateries offer discounts for children, and others are FREE for young kids. Holiday brunches book up quickly, though, and many require reservations.

If you're down on the shore, explore these wonderful Mother's Day options.

Alstede Farms – Chester

Enjoy a farm-to-table brunch buffet with a side of springtime fun at Alstede Farms' weekend-long Mother’s Day celebration. Advanced tickets are required and sold per time slot. There are three time slots available for Saturday, May 8, and Sunday, May 9, 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. Indoor and outdoor brunch is sold per table with options for a table of four and a table of six. Enjoy fruit and salads, carving station, breakfast options such as eggs, frittatas, sausage, and more. Lunch options are also available. The kids can burn some post-brunch energy visiting the farm animals, taking a pony ride (for an additional fee), and more.

Amanda's – Hoboken

A Hoboken staple for more than 25 years, Amanda's serves one of the best brunches in town. The menu has all your favorites, like pancakes, eggs Benedict, omelets, sandwiches, and more.

The Architects Golf Club – Lopatcong

Head to The Architect's Club for a special Mother’s Day brunch buffet that's open to the public. Expect an omelet station, hot chafing dishes with breakfast and lunch items, a carving station, kids' options, and tons of desserts (including an ice cream sundae station). Reservations are highly recommended.

Battello – Jersey City

Brunch at Batello's on Mother's Day and enjoy a very special meal with its a la carte menu and live music. Choose from a host of entrees, like eggs Benedict, crab waffles, or avocado toast. There are plenty of fresh seafood options, too, such as oysters, crab, and more. Reservations are highly recommended.

Biagio's – Paramus

This Italian restaurant is switching it up a bit and hosting a big Mother's Day brunch buffet. In addition to continental breakfast options, enjoy made-to-order omelets, a carving station with four different types of meat, and more than a dozen hot buffet items from scrambled eggs and pancakes to penne vodka and calamari. And, of course, don't miss the dessert table.

Bibi’z Restaurant & Lounge – Westwood

This lively local favorite serves a great brunch. On Mother's Day, expect a fantastic prix fixe menu that includes a mimosa for mom.

Brass Rail – Hoboken

This Hoboken standby is well-loved by locals and does a great brunch. Enjoy two courses plus a drink. Choose from Elvis-style crepes, carrot cake, omelets, quiches, sandwiches, and more.

Liberty House – Jersey City

The restaurant's Hudson River view isn't the only sight to behold. The Mother's Day menu focuses on lunch and dinner this year, featuring filet mignon, halibut, short ribs, rotisserie chicken, and more. Dine outside and enjoy some spectacular views of NYC.

Crystal Springs Resort – Hamburg

This unique all-seasons resort is going all-in this Mother's Day. The Emerald Ballroom Mother's Day Brunch serves a grand buffet with delectable carving stations, made-to-order omelets, lavish hot and cold stations, a seafood station, and dessert. The Diamond Ballroom Mother's Day Brunch has an equally impressive, though slightly smaller spread, with hot and cold stations, a seafood station, and kids' buffet favorites like mac & cheese, sliders, mini hot dogs, and chicken tenders. Meanwhile, Black Bear Mother's Day Brunch is a buffet focused on endless shrimp, cold and hot buffets, carving stations, and delectable desserts.

Fire & Oak – Jersey City

Brunch at this swanky, modern restaurant feels special on any weekend, but especially on Mother's Day. Starters include warm donuts with dunking sauces plus savory options like spinach and artichoke dip and tuna tartar tacos. There are many great brunch plate options, too, whether you're in the mood for sandwiches, salads, eggs, pancakes, or French toast.

Grillestone – Scotch Plains, Old Bridge

Grillestone's Mother’s Day menu does not disappoint. Starting at noon, enjoy a four-course meal for a queen with plenty of family-friendly options. Dine inside or on the patio. If you're more in the mood for Italian, sister restaurant Grano Pizzeria and Italian Tavern in Scotch Plains also has a special four-course Mother's Day feast.

Ivy Inn – Hasbrouck Heights

Looking for a special spot? Bring the family to this historic inn for delicious brunch fare in a cozy, quiet atmosphere. The sit-down Mother’s Day brunch boasts a great selection of drinks and appetizers as well as entrees that include a bacon, cheddar, and tomato omelet; chicken and waffles; and a traditional eggs Benedict. A children’s menu offers scrambled eggs, chicken fingers, and sliders; top it all off with ice cream sundaes. Grab a patio table, dine-in, or order takeout.

Madison Bar and Grill – Hoboken

The Sunday brunch at Madison includes poached eggs, eggs benedict, and a popular favorite: creme brulee French toast. Don't forget to save room for dessert. There are also plenty of tables outside with heat lamps in case it gets chilly.

Molos Restaurant – Weehawken

Seafood lovers rejoice. This two-story Greek and Mediterranean-inspired seafood restaurant on the Hudson River has an interesting Mother's Day brunch menu. Appetizers run the gamut from lobster ravioli to fried calamari and jumbo shrimp. The main course has options like lobster benedict, surf and turf, and lamb chops. A children's menu is available.

Mulberry House – Westfield

This spot is perfect for a multigenerational Mother's Day meal. Enjoy tea time with scones, tea sandwiches, salad, and sweets. Heartier fare includes stuffed French toast, scrambled eggs, frittatas, and roasted pork hash. Reservations are required. Time slots are 10am, 12pm, and 2pm.

McLoone's Boathouse – West Orange

Located within the South Mountain Recreation Complex, McLoone's Boathouse sits on the banks of the reservoir, offering Mother's Day family-style brunch with a spectacular view. Try the shrimp, clams on the half-shell, and oysters at the raw bar. Design your own omelet, or feast on ham, glazed salmon, or chicken fricassee. French toast, frittata, and home fries round out the wide assortment, along with cookies and desserts.

The Olde Mill Inn & Grain House Restaurant – Basking Ridge

The Mother's Day menu is prix fixe this year and features a choice of a classic canape plate to start, choice of salad, choice of five entrees (roast turkey, lamb, beef, flounder with crab meat, and butternut squash ravioli), and a choice of cobblers for dessert (strawberry or peach) served family-style. A children's menu is offered, and reservations are required.

The Shannon Rose – Clifton

Craving an Irish brunch? The Shannon Rose has got you covered. Order from the brunch menu, which includes favors like avocado toast with poached eggs, a Gaelic egg sandwich, and a traditional Irish breakfast with all the fixings; dine-in or takeout.

Stage House Tavern – Somerset, Scotch Plains, Mountainside

You won’t go hungry at this fun pub that's known for its large brunch portions. The Scotch Plains location features a three-course Mother's Day brunch, with lots of options. Choose from one of the delectable starters, like French toast bites, deviled eggs, Italian wedding soup, shrimp cocktail, and more. Main courses include chicken and waffles, short ribs, and sesame-glazed flounder, to name a few. If you still have room for dessert, choose from cheesecake, apple crumb pie, and chocolate lava cake. A bloody mary, mimosa, or other beverage is included. The Mountainside location offers a two-course prix fixe Mother's Day brunch with starters like fruit tostadas and smoked salmon avocado toast and entrees like breakfast mac & cheese, stuffed waffles, shrimp & grits, and breakfast pizza. A kids' menu is available.

Summit House – Summit

This year, the Summit House brunch offering is family-style to-go kits, available for pick-up on Saturday, May 8. Kits serve four people and include breakfast (eggs, bacon, brown butter scones, and a mimosa kit) and dinner (salad, cavatelli with shrimp, salmon, and veggie succotash).

Winberie's – Summit

Housed in Summit's historic Opera House, Winberie's brunch menu is a special treat. Chipotle meatballs and cajun macaroni and cheese complement traditional brunch items such as poached eggs with biscuits, quiche, omelets, and lunch fare. There's a whole brunch cocktail and wine list to pick from as well.
